Pypes Exhaust - Buyer Beware!

I ordered a stainless (header back according to their information) crossflow exhaust system and head pipes for my 69 Z28 on Sept 25. When I received the system, the exhaust ended at the back tires rather than coming out behind the tires or at the back bumper area. I call them up, "you must also buy exhaust tips". OK, so I order a set of EVT58 polished stainless tips on Oct 8. Then I get an email that the tips are on backorder until Nov. 3. On Nov. 7 I get a postcard saying that the tips are on backorder until Nov. 28. Yesterday I call to see whats going on. "Well it will be early December before we have anymore in stock and oh by the way we have changed them to an EVT59 because the EVT58 is discontinued". So I ask what the difference is. "We made the tips longer so they fit better on the 70-81 cars, you will have to cut the tips off for a 69". WTF! How do you cut off a slash tip on a polished stainless tip and make it look good? "Use a hacksaw or a chopsaw and file it down when you are done".

Stay away from these people. You might as well buy some pipe and build your own system!

Re: Pypes Exhaust - Buyer Beware!

Wow, sorry to hear about your troubles. I live about 5 minutes away from where they are made. I've personally heard nothing bad about the company. Hopefully when you get everything on the 69 it will sound good and flow well.

Re: Pypes Exhaust - Buyer Beware!

While this is good information for others, it doesn't seem to be related to your thirdgen. It might be better suited in the exhaust forums, but again, I would not designate 1st gen related issues. I'll move this and see if the moderator in that forum deems it worthy to keep open. Sorry.
