Quick Time Performance Electric Exhaust Cutouts

i saw this under an article for gm something magazine under top 10 budget bolt ons, and it seemed interesting that a flick of the switch you could run no cat or anything just headers. i know how illegal that sounds but still you could just at another flick of the switch go back to a normal setup. i figured it would be a significant gain in performance. but im wondering if there are any draw backs? perhaps like the switch's durability, or the ability of it closing it and opening it at any wim?

I love the one I have on my 00 WS6. I can't say enough about the quality and craftmanship it has. Its a very nice piece.

Re: Quick Time Performance Electric Exhaust Cutouts

My only complaint is the limit switch that operates the light in my dash to tell me it is open. It cannot stand up to the vibration of the exhaust and flickers off and on, when the cut out is open. No big deal really, just distracting.

It is really nice to have while you are tunning also. Less were and tear on the cat, because you can open it up and dump before the cat. I have noticed that things do change for a bit in the maps when I open up the cutout, but it recovers pretty quickly. My idle becomes a little messy also with the cutout open. I am using a Holley CM950 and my own tune though, so that may play into it.

On the dyno I gained about 10hp above 4500 rpm. This my not be the case if you have a good exhaust setup. I am running a single 3.5" on a 383.

QTP....Simply...AWESOME.

Plus lets say you wanna show off at a light and open it up...BUB BUB BUB BBUUBBB...then a cop pulls up or see's you driving and it sounds loud...FLICK, now its closed and back to legal exhaust...

Plus if you have cops who have DB meters for exhaust (yeah cleveland has them....you wouldnt think they would considering all the busted cars around this place...) but anyway they hear it loud, then check and see its actually in legal specs (I think thats around 90*DB because its said that having constant 90DB to your ears can cause deafness....so yeah, thats when that law came to be). But you can get away with it...and there after they probably wont mess with you if they remember the car.

BUT 10 OUT OF 10....

P.S. Cant you just not hook-up the light that comes on? I dont have QTP but will soon....give me 2 months to get my exhaust and trans. and x-mas out the way.

They are nice... However we have had problems with them getting stuck or motor giving out there is a new company that had some out for sema. They use linar actuators rather that motors.

Found it NOWEEDS.NET and DAKOTA DIGITAL.

Re: Quick Time Performance Electric Exhaust Cutouts

I have had them on my GTA for a year or so, with no appreciable problems, but know that I think about it, I think I may have a McCord Power Plate.
