I did that to my car last thursday. I used 2.5 inch pipe. It was a perfect fit. I reused the flange off my cat and painted the flange with a high temp black engine enamel. It looks pretty killer.

Any difference in power or sound? I am considering hollowing out mine, so it still looks like its there for the cops. I think its going bad anyway, because when the car went through emissions last june (right before I bought it) it only passed by 1 ppm on the HC's. So I doubt it would pass now with 10k more miles.

Also, I am starting to get a "rattle" under the car, at certian RPM. Sounds like a heat shield does when it gets loose, except alot quieter and duller.

Re: cat delete

It made a lot of difference with the sound. I installed the hooker cat back with the cat on at first and I could barely hear it running. I replaced the cat with the pipe and it is loud now, but it has a really good tone. It sounds great in my opinion. As for power increase, i don't feel that much of a difference, but the sound makes it feel like I am driving a pro mod .

dahm dude, u put 10k on that already.. u need a daily driver. and my advice would be, dont mess with youre cat until u have a decent cat back on there. first off it will be a major p.i.t.a. on a old stock rusty system and not worth the gain/sound IMO... so stop abusing that good looking formy and SELL IT TO ME!!

i don't mean to jack this;
do u have a sound clip?
i have the Mac test pipe with air tube. i am also waiting for the mac Y-pipe to come in. i'm still deciding on what cat back i want and the hooker c/b is still in the running. i've got it down to flows,hooker,magnaflow,or spintech.i am leaning towards the spintech at this point. i'm not crazy about the how the flows sound on a reving decell.

but i would like to hear the hookers with a test pipe and not a hollowed out cat. the sound is much better when there is a pipe.
a hollowed out cat sounds too tiny,from i have heard.
thanks.

This is not my car but it has the hooker cat back on it http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....8-9C7052FABCD8. My car sounds the same, just a little less cam.
