hedman header plus y-pipe question

I'm buying these hedman shorties. Summit says to buy this y-pipe with it but the collector style on the headers is ball and socket, yet the y-pipe is a 3 bolt flange. So my logic tells me that it won't fit. If I am correct, then this y pipe is the one I need, correct?

Re: hedman header plus y-pipe question

I think thats a misprint. I believe those headers are the 3 bolt flange headers and these are the ball and socket. Someone please correct me if im wrong. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=HED%2D68479&N=700+4294923429+4294839039+4294918680+400143+4294908153+4294907958+4294924930+115&autoview=sku

Yeah, that is a misprint. I have those headers, and that y-pipe and it fits fine.

Re: hedman header plus y-pipe question

I have those headers with the stock exhaust and a gutted cat. Sounds like garbage so im purchasing the ypipe and a hooker aero chamber cat back this weekend. cdacda13 let me know how it all sounds when your done. What part of Jersey do you reside btw?

Once I get the headers, y-pipe and new cat on, I'll post a sound clip.

Re: hedman header plus y-pipe question

No, it is NOT a mis print, they make both, one with the 3-bolt flange, and another y-pipe with the ball and socket flange.

Here.

Re: hedman header plus y-pipe question

It IS a misprint for those headers. The ones the topic poster linked are the 3 bolt, not the ball and socket.

Oh, ok my bad, I thought he was talking the y-pipe was a misprint, sorry. Yup you are right, the headers are 3-bolt, I just looked quick, and my headers are the ball and socket flange version.

Re: hedman header plus y-pipe question

Heh. Im just curious as to why the ball and socket ones are a tad bit more expensive. are they easier to bolt on or do they fit better?

They are suppose to be better, they dont use gaskets, and are not suppose to leak.

Re: hedman header plus y-pipe question

i like them much better than ones with gaskets ive instaled a set on a friends 83 camaro and a set of longtubes with ball socket on both my 82 and 86 t/a 82 had hooker shortys with 3bolt flange and it was a p.i.t.a they always leaked
