i was just thinking about this and im curious if that would be possible its kinda but if i did it right id have a pretty unique camaro i think has anyone on here tried it but i wanna keep it street legal because im gonna start driving in a lil under a year and this is my project car cause it was either this or a buick regal thats all beat up but honestly would smoke my camaro or i was gettin an accord and i took the v8 cause i think ill have more fun with a camaro
Its not really legal in most cases, check with your state. Exhaust must exit behind the passenger cabin. And since we have fastbacks with windows that go all the way back it needs to exit at the back of the car.
You probably won't encounter any problems with it though even if it isn't legal.
As far as uniqueness and originality, its over rated. Spend the money on headers or a 3" cat-back, you'll get a bigger kick out of that.
Side exits are cosidered legal for cars like our, as exiting past or outide the passenger compartent. Hence the legality of sidepipes on any car.....or Cobras, Saleen/Roush (I forget which has it) the side exit exhaust.
Basically, as long as you exit it past the doors to the sides, and not under the car, you'll pass.
Andris's twin turbo Camaro here has side exits. I've seen several others, but that's the only oe that comes to mind.
There's a car near me that has duals that come out near the back of the doors. The way the pipes are run, it looks like there might be as much as 3/4" clearance with the road. Doesn't look very practical to me in our town full of speed bumps, speed tables, speed whatevers, but if the owner is happy with it, it's cool with me.
i work at a drag strip and i was talking to a custom exhaust guy and he said that he could do it so on monday im gonna call him and see if running them out that way would be legal because i saw a saleen mustang with them that way last night
let me know where u go and how much it costs, I was thinkin of running z28 rectangle tips that way, plus I might live near u if u live near englishtown
