Re: removing catalytic converter

this should be good. be nice Kid and Kevin.

as far as taking it off. its just like u said. unbolt it wrestle with it alittle and it should come off. and if that don't work take a saw to it. u might have to cut the air tube goin from the motor to the cat. if u are replacing it with a mac off road pipe then just get an air tube repair kit at autozone. if u are removing the air pump and all the other shite, then just remove the air along with it.

Re: removing catalytic converter

I just decided to hollow it out. Those bolts were on there really good im kinda strong for a 16 year old and it took everything i had to break them loose only one of the bolt heads snapped off. It runs a whole lot better and the exhaust is a little louder thanks for your help.

1. This topic is one of the most popular on this board.

2. Yes you do have emissions, just like every other thirdgen that was sold in the United States. Every car that is driven on the street is required to have the emissions devices it came with, or be replaced with 50-state legal parts. Just because your area doesnt do emissions tests does NOT mean you are free to remove what you want and let the people behind you breathe your bad exhaust.

3. Please replace your gutted cat with a good aftermarket "high-flow" cat such as Magnaflow as soon as you can. Our status as responsible hot rodders depends on it.
