curious about l98 and lt1

i was wondering do l98s and lt1s sound the same.... i noticed that they sound similar with similar exhaust... but the ls1 sound a bit different.... which engine sounds the best to you from top to bottom. one more question, i notice that manual versions always sound better than automatics???? why is this... can you make an automatic sound better than a manual...

I noticed a large difference between L98s and LT1s, including a direct comparison with a Magnaflow muffler.

Manuals sound different because of the difference between a clutch and a torque converter lol

Re: curious about l98 and lt1

The only reason a L98 would sound different than a LT1 would be because of the cam, and the components of the exhaust.

The LS series motors have a different firing order which gives them the euro exotic sound.

I personaly prefer the L98/LT1 sound but thats me.

Re: curious about l98 and lt1

An LT1 is basically a regular small block chevy but with reverse cooled heads and more compression. So they sound similar to our L98 engines.

An LS1 is a completely different engine with a different camshaft.
