Exhaust cut out with pics!
Here's some shots of the exhaust cut out I put on my 89 IROC. Now there's no cat but I believe this setup would work with one. I used a 3" flange hook up I purchased at Advanced for about $20. The block off plate I made from some 1/4 " aluminum I had setting around. Works great and knocked about a 1/10th off my 1/8 mile et.

Here's a few more pics showing the turn down in place. The sound is actually pretty healthy. Alot like open headers with less crackeling.

i see your nitrous line!
hehe.
the turndown on the there is cool. i bet it actually gets rid of the crackle and makes it sound good.
im not a cutout person, but i tell people they need a turndown on them.
does it make a change in the sound?

Yeah the turndown makes is sound a little different, plus it makes the burnout more dramatic!
Nitrous? Well it's a daily driver so I chose that route to keep it more streetable.
I haven't used an electic cutout. That would be a cool setup. But because of the location, it really is a quick change. Don't even have to jack the car up.

Re: Exhaust cut out with pics!
i have the exact set up, with an electric end/turndown. hooker headers, 3 inch y pipe, no cat, cutout straight, 2.25 pipe curves to driveshaft tunnel, flowmaster 80 series under trunk. yours looks good

Re: Exhaust cut out with pics!
Whats really hurting you is the TES headers. When I switched from them to a set of Dyno Don's headers I lost .6 in the quarter and 7 mph. The TES y pipe is a horrible design

Re: Exhaust cut out with pics!
Are those headers still a "stock layout" type design? Single or dual exhaust? Shorty or long tube?
