Re: Custom side exhaust!

Dang it I really need to get another Fbody just do to stuff like that with. I dont wanna change the exterior of my SC too much, and the car would need GFX to make it look right I think.

Re: Custom side exhaust!

That's the general idea for the way I want to eventually route my exhaust. You'd have to route the pipes over the LCA mount and possibly threw the cabin.

Re: Custom side exhaust!

i would imagine that the heat from the exhaust being shorter it will be hotter, would warp/melt or discolor the ground effects. i wanted to run side outlets for my true dual but i had interference with the LCA movement. the onlyway would be to run the exhaust right along side the perimeter of the sill and have a short 45 degree at the end.

if i wasnt worried about the work i would cut the door sills out and weld in thicker boxed steel and run the exhaust in it or use thick large 90 degree steel and just rebuild the sill area for more clearance... basically killing 2 birds with one stone. clearance for side exhaust and SFC essentially.

ive seen this type of work on some mustangs that run around lol... ends up having black from the exhaust all around the backside of the hole lol due to exhaust carbon. u prob see it all the time on ricers and fart can mufflers.

Re: Custom side exhaust!

Putting an oval tip(s) just under the ground fx is nothing new, but THROUGH the fx would be better, but much trickier. On a 4th gen, I've seen the fx notched to tuck the tips up about 3/4 way up into them but never fully through.

Re: Custom side exhaust!

I'm going to do a side exhaust setup when I have the engine back in the car, I did some checking and it looks like with some home built/designed subframe connectors I can tuck the entire exhaust away much higher than in that 1st pic and have a wide but shallow end sticking out under the GFX for max. ground clearance. I'll do a duel exhaust 1 side exit.

I hope your talking about both tips on just the passenger side. Besides true duals (1 on each side) not being legal anywhere, California DEFINATELY won't let you slide by at inspection time!
