HOK-2460HKR and matching HOK-16767HKR y pipe will not line up help!!

I have a 1985 IROC-Z 305 tpi and I installed the headers without a problem then I put the car up to line up the Y pipe and it was off by at least a half inch. I called up summit where i got the headers and y pipe and they said that it should fit and they could not help me and told me to call Hooker on monday. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue before or has any ideas.

Thanks.

Re: HOK-2460HKR and matching HOK-16767HKR y pipe will not line up help!!

i bought the 2460 headers and the ypipe for my 89 rs. it was pain in the *** the first time. couldnt quite get it to match up but i finally got it after an hour of cussing and throwin a fit. then i just made my buddy do it. lol. but the second time i put it up after my head swap much easier. install the bolts in the ypipe to the header collectors. just keep everything loose fitting. dont tightin them. then go ahead and start the bolts in the headers to the heads. u may need a small pry bar to give u some leverage to get the holes to match up. but that is what i did. went 10x faster. good luck. i hope this helped.

I have the same problem!! the left side header is really close to the frame too. I was planning on using the prybar method or just cutting and rewelding the y pipe. what did you end up doing?

They sent me another y pipe and it was the same thing. I ended up haveing to cut the y pipe and weld in a sleeve so i could extend it to line up with the headers. Welcome to bolt on
