I have a 91 rs 305 tbi. My exhaust was all screwed up so I cut it right behind the cat. My question is can I run a straight pipe from there with no muffler? Will i lose power? I wanted to get tubing and run it out right before the back tire with no muffler is that ok, any suggestions? thanks....
On my old 92 RS, 305 TBI...I cut the pipe just after it went over the axle, then ran it straight back from there. Stock manifolds, no muffler, just the cat.
Never failed inspection & never even got pulled over for excessive noise.
I guess that says something about how weak a stock 305 TBI really is!

Horsepower makes noise........noise doesnt make Horsepower
If your low on cash then yes run a straight pipe, what everyone on this forum seems to forget is not everyone can afford a 355 or 383, the little 305 will be good enough for some V8 sound.
