Magnaflow 16829 S.S. Cat Back

Got mine today from JEGS. Everything looks perfect, the polished tips and muffler are mirror like! I will have to make a different cat hanger, the flange on the magnaflow is huge.

When i get to installing it, ill post more pics and what if anything had to be changed. If any of you already installed this please let us know what had to be done, and how it fit.

Re: Magnaflow 16829 S.S. Cat Back

It's an easy install!!! You'll enjoy it and love the sound. I added the Magnaflow highflow cat as well. Minor mods, a few bends and some welding from the y-pipe to the new cat.

I have hedman hedders and y-pipe.

I honestly don't recall what we did with the cat bracket since we put a new cat on and it was positioned slightly different.

I would think you just added to the original bracket, thats what i plan on doing. Do you think one bolt on the flange would be sufficient to hold it up? Or would two like the original has be better?

One bolt should be sufficient, but if it's not too much trouble for you to put two in then that's the way i would go. I believe we added two. My exhaust guy is a bit of a perfectionist which is fine with me.

Re: Magnaflow 16829 S.S. Cat Back

Just got my Magnaflow Kit today. HOT DAMN it looks good. I also like how they routed the over axle pipe to muffler inlet better (I think) than flowmaster, dynomax, hooker and edelbrock. Also I think that means less piping as well, and a better exhaust flow? Instead of air flowing from the rear of the muffler (closest to rear of car) to the front of the muffler (closest to front of car) then back out towards the rear of the car it flows from the front of the muffler towards the rear outlets out the back. Could this be true? Sounds like it could be?

Just check each's routing.

Re: Magnaflow 16829 S.S. Cat Back

So you actually got it on? I bet it sounds AWESOME if you did! One thing we'll have to do is make it mount to the cat mount somehow, although this should be easy. Does stainless turn colors when its heated like chrome? Gosh it will look awesome under there i cant wait. Im waiting to install mine till after paint.

Re: Magnaflow 16829 S.S. Cat Back

1 week for headers, then waiting for it to warm up a little more to start working on the car. From the videos with magnaflow and hooker headers, its going to demolish my buddies flowmaster completely. But, I do need a lot before she runs again including a transmission. Right now my priority is to get the car running again not exactly driving; (Have to syphon 12+ gallons of 2 1/2yo gas) and hook everything back up.

Ill be sure to post the BEST exhaust clip ever. When I get everything. The first detailed exhaust video. Cold Start, Warm Start, Idle, Idle-2k, Idle- 3k, Idle- 4k, Idle- 5k, Idle-Redline, RPM Range. Blips from 2k-5k, 3k-5k (Usually best RPM range for exhaust tone destinction).

In due time. Cant wait to Polish my tips...

You better post that vid up!

Your tips aren't polished? mine are like a mirror! I bet you mean once they get dirty, then shine them up again.

They are, there is just some very very fine scratches (but underneath the tip, near the water drain hole where they wouldn't be seen). Otherwise yes, I want to get them dirty to show off the shine after cleaning...haha, I put the exhaust together in my room. Wish I had money to buy another to hang on my wall.

Anyway will do on the video.

If you go to Magnaflow.com and look up 16829 (or whatever the part no. is), there's actually two short videos with the sound clip. They sound AWESOME. What they use on the video is an 88 Formy. Even my husband loved the sound (and he HATES fart cans! )

That's good to know, I was trying to stay quiet at idle/low RPM's and screaming when it counts at high rpm, which is what the Magnaflow does. But also not having the fart can sound, ha ha, is a good thing.
