I have a manual one on my catback. I went from a 12.67 to a 12.03 just by opening my cutout!

Re: who has exhaust cut-outs?????

electric cutout and it sucks, sounds terrible. Going to build a full stainless true dual system with 2.75" in/out bullet mufflers. Should sound a whole lot better than with the cutout. i'jsut loud & obnoxious, unmuffled doesn't sound worth a damn

It's just as important to have the cut outs the correct distance from the collector to make the most of them.
Joeblue, where abouts in the exhaust are your cutouts?

Its right after the y pipe, where it bends to the intermediate pipe.

Re: who has exhaust cut-outs?????

i'm planning on putting an exhaust cutout in this week depending on how quick this snow storm passes by. i want to put it around the same location on my 88 trans am, 305 t.b.i, as joeblue 83, right after the y-pipe so it replaces my cat.the only problem i have is what to do with that stupid emissions pipe that goes into the cat on the side of it. anyone have any ideas what do do with this pipe. can't wait to hear my car run with the cut out wide open, my neighbours are gonna love me.

Aren't electronic cutouts illegal?

No they shouldn't be anymore than no mufflers. Meaning you can have them just not legally open on the street

Re: who has exhaust cut-outs?????

I was thinking of putting an elec cut out on my 92. I have a buddy whos a state trooper in ct. According to the state laws here, any aftermarket products installed on a vehicle replacing stock parts are illegal. Its a flaw in the system that makes it illegal to technically replace anything from stock air filters to k&n for example or even a rusted out exhaust pipe on your car. But either way, the chances for you to get pulled over because your car sounds too loud are close to impossible because the time it takes to get accurate decible readings (depending if the officer is even carrying one) is just a waste for them. And the first incidence is always a warning, unless driving recklessly as well. Hope that helps
