re: dual exhaust and header type

That is the cheap way, if you want it done right, there is room to run 2 - 2 1/4" pipes along the same route as the stock 3" pipe and than you stack the muffers in the original muffer spot, the only draw back is the exhaust only exits one side with duel outlets.

re: dual exhaust and header type

IMO, it's just better to run two 2 1/2" pipes into one 3.5" pipe, yeah it'll be only one tailpipe, but the flow is so much better than a bunch of bends and glasspacks (which flow the worst of any muffler believe it or not, a 2 1/2 straight pipe flow something like 700 cfm, with a glasspack it flows like 180cfm..bad)...but everyone likes to try thier own thing...props to you for trying something different...

re: dual exhaust and header type

you know what a glasspack is right. a straight pipe inside another pipe and fiberglass packed between the two with little holes drilled in the inner pipe. there is no restrictions.

Re: dual exhaust and header type

Glass packs are restrictive. The only mufflers that really flow well are race mufflers like moroso spirals and dynomax bullets. And just to add to this I have true dual exhaust and 2 1/2 pipe and my mufflers are right behind the transmission. I have good clearance and never scrap anything.

how much hp? you can get plenty of power out of a single pipe and not comprimise clearance and drivability, IMO.
im a firm believer in single exhaust(to an extent)

According to the muffler flow chart I have....the worst flowing exhaust muffler out there is a glasspack....yes I know how a glasspack is constructed..but it's not just if you can see through it that makes it good....the air turbulance in there is severe, not smooth....plus there is this little thing either people forget or don't know about, reverberations of sound bouncing back up to the motor.....good mufflers, like the max flow, not only run the exhaust air smoothly through, but are designed with sound reverbs in mind....if you want I'll find the muffler flow chart and post it.....let me look for it..I'll post when I find it on my computer again

Re: dual exhaust and header type

i have true duals, 2 1/2 inch with dynomax super turbos. i had this exhaust installed when i was running a very mild 350 and it sounded great and performed well. it is a side-exit exhaust setup and i rarely have ground clearance issues. but the shop had my car for a few days so they could do a nice job with a custom system to fit, look, and perform well.

Well I was just posting in this thread as my opinion...just like the others did.......but it looks like you don't like opinions...you know all I guess........I do things for most horsepower, NOT for sound or looks....I might not always do the correct thing...but was just putting in my two cents......so watch whom you call names.

AND now since were getting all pissy about things, I will bring it up.......a 500hp 305.....really!?!?!
I'd really like to see your list of mods and the dyno sheet, if you have one....at least a list of mods though. Cause if you're actually getting 500 horse I'd like to copy you build, but I doubt it. If you're going to post something you have to expect people who will not like what you have to say or what you did.......that's why others read threads and see different thoughts on subjects.......

Re: dual exhaust and header type

the only thing im getting pissy about is arguing about them gasspacks, you one them people who been calling them restrictive, they are the most free flowing muffler on the market(them mufflers on them rice burners are pretty much a glasspack so im not considering that), and yes i know straight pipe is less restrictive than a glasspack ,but im not talking about straight piping. i let a muffler shop do my setup he told me it was " THE BEST WAY TO RUN DUEL EXHAUST" besides the fact, i didnt say i know everything. i know how to utilize, i know how to make **** work. and about the hp, the motor is making about 500 but im getting 465 to the wheels. now lets quit argueing about them glasspacks its a stupid arguement.

You keep useing the same muffler as the ***** burners both of your mechanical ablity and intelligence level are the same. And post up a dyno sheet when you get a chance so everyone can quit calling on your 305 making 500 hp.

This forum is a place to educate yourself about Thirdgens. Not everyone is on the same knowledge level. There is NO reason to bash anyone or name call. No one here was born knowing about cars. You've got to learn somewhere and ask questions. So be polite, and try and help each other instead of making sarcastic comments.
