ME AND MY FRIEND HAD THIS DONE TO BOTH OF OUR CARS, BUT I ONLY HAVE PICTURES OF HIS CAR. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK, AND BY THE WAY THERE FLOWMASTERS 1 CHAMBER MUFFLERS AND WE STILL HAVE AN AWSOME GROUND CLEARENCE!
THIS SETUP SOUNDS FREAKING AMAZING LIKIE WHEN THE CAR IS ON IDLE IS SOUNDS BEEFY BUT WHEN YOU PUNCH IT IT FREAKING SCREAMS " ROARS" HA. I LOVE IT ON MY CAR I HAVE A 5.O AND MY FRIEND HAS A 5.7 BUT YESTERDAY WE RACED BOTH OF OUR CARS HE COULD JUST BEAT ME BY 1 CAR SO THATS PRETTY COOL THAT I COULD KEEP UP WITH A 5.7.
ALSO I HAVE QUESTION FOR YOU GUYS WHEN I RACED MY FRIEND I BUT IT IN 1, RIGHT, BUT THE THING IS MY CAR TOPS OUT AT 110MPH WHICH FOR ME THATS 3RD GEAR I NEVER GOT TO SHIFT INTO 4TH GEAR. MY FRIEND TELLS ME IT HAS TO DO WITH A THING CALLED A GOVERNER? WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK AND WHAT COULD I DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
like befor i was running 2 1 chamber mufflers weres the stock muffler kinda was so i decided just to put it by the rear wheel ly local shop just charged me and my friend 30 each, pretty cool.
ill get some sound clips up soon it doesent pop only when you rev it reallly high like high it pops a lil bit and when you down shift it rumbbles and it pops but other that i love it.
actually my friend warned me about that and to be honest with you i havent smelled fumes when im in traffic. ill try getting some recordings today ill post them up on you tube and ill get the links for you guys.
I've got the old 2OTL SLP exhaust and I've often wondered what it would sound like to replace the SLP muffler with a giant single chamber since the SLP muffler has a single 3" in and dual 2 1/2's out on tha same side. I don't think it would be that hard to mod. I've also wondered it it wouldn't be easier to gut the SLP muffler.
I'd be up for a single chamber but only if I can keep my over the rear 3" and keep the dual SLP tips out the back...

i like the idea but not the execution. it is NOT a good idea to have all that carbon dioxide bouncing up and into your car. ever heard of carbon dioxide poisoning - you know the old car running in the garage with the door closed thing.
as for one exhaust - yea i like that a lot.
i dont think we need dual exhausts when everything comes from one y pipe. i would run it over the rear and dump further back.
WELL MY LOCAL EMISSIONS SHOP IS OWNED BY A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE, HE WOULD NEVER GIVE ME ANY BS ABOUT THAT NO MATTER WHAT, IM PRETTY SURE THERE SOME SHOPS OUT THERE THAT WOULD MAKE A BIG DEAL OR SO.
Definitely racy enough. Just dont let your exhaust write checks your 5-oh cant cash.
My dads 55 chevy has ramshorns with mandrel 2.5" and cherrybombs with turndowns right between the B pillar and the rear tire. His glasspacks are BLOWN out but its a helluva lot quieter with the mandrel bent turndowns than it was with new glasspacks and NO tips.
If your car has exhaust leaks and holes in the floorpan, AND youre sitting in traffic idling for an hour at a time, Id imagine you'd get annoyed at the stench long before you got sleepy or dead (considering youre OUTSIDE and the floorpan is apparently compromised), BUT open a window and you can at least get her home and find the baseball sized hole in your floorpan that tried to kill you.
Pointing the turndowns DOWN made the car drone something awful at 45mph...it seriously made my neck and back hurt (something about vibrations and harmonics) on a 2hr cruise. Pointing the turndowns OUT (almost completely perpendicular, but still slightly angled down) helped a LOT and never a hint of stinkyness or wanting to take a nap.
Another option is a 70s AAR Cuda style side exit megaphone tip. If you dont want to see it, shorten the other end and scuff the tip and paint it with flat black BBQ paint...problem solved
Dont forget Gen2 F-word Lightnings have factory side exit exhaust

Dont forget Players Challenge Third-gens used a GM side exhaust with the old Chevelle SS tips. There are a few pics of them on here I have seen, wouldnt be hard to duplicate.

I have used the single chamber 4" (in and out) flowmaster on a few cars including a LS1 camaro. We did some dyno testing on the LS car with 3 different exhaust systems and the single chamber flowmaster with a single tail pipe (cats still on car) made the most HP. Most bolt on kits are sold with "pretty" in mind so they give you the dual tips plus most people think 2 tips indicates it is a big (v8) motor and not the V6 that came with single. The problem with this is whenever you break up exhaust or create a bend the exhaust has to make you are making the exhaust less efficient. I have always built my cars more for track use and not "pretty" so they usually end up with a single sewer pipe tail pipe out the back unless the car has a true dual exhaust.
I do agree with others that you should bring the pipes out the side or back unless it is not a daily driver and just a weekend car.
I really like the tone those 1 chamber mufflers give ou and i got everything stock and the manifolds just that my exhaust pipe its 2inch 1/2 and on my friends above "pics", he has the 3inch tubing ill try to get some better videos tomorro or so if i have time like one taking off from the rear and like a passing sound clips as well ill see if my friend is free tomorrow so i could get some sound clips from his car.

i thought about putting like a side exhaust but i just dont like how they would be under the skirts i like how they did it on the roush cars if i could do something like i would most take it in consideration.

i been right next to cops and they just look and thats all. there not really loud at normal idle they just sound beefey but when i put the petal to the metal it screams.
i listened to the audio and there appears to be s high whine when it runs. what is that? does it have something to do with your muffler setup or was it always there. could almost sound like a turbo whine - but not exactly.

which model number did you use? I called the company and the only thing they have is a transverse mounted muffler and I want something that is straight.
Magnaflow told me that 14239 might be thin enough to fit between the cat in the rear end which might allow me to then goes straight up over the axle and straight back and out the rear of the car.
Yes I know it sounds strange but I'm not going to run pretend duels.
thanks

look on the home page in tec articles there is a thingy about overcomming the governer, otherwise put a aftermarket chip in it, the best bang for the buck is TBIchips.com

Where did you get the chamber ones? I think i have seen ur car at vc not sure.
i've had this same type of exhaust on my car as well for a few months, but with 3in cat and pipe. but i had my exhaust guy put the muffler in the rear with 1 tail pipe that looks like a factory tail pipe exiting out the back...
p.s.......newts25th i'll try and get those pics for ya tomorrow if its not raining here.... need to change my oil so ill be under the car neways..... oh yeah.... thats basically what my car sounds like too except i have headers and y-pipe so its full exhaust headers to tail pipe

That would work if he were trying to overcome the speed governor on an L03. He's got an LB9 and he's saying that the 700r4 isn't shifting into overdrive. The 700r4's in F-bodies will not shift into overdrive at anything over 75% throttle.

So your muffler is still in the same location but it is running over the axle and its dumping as soon as it gets over the axle or is it running out the back?
i listened again and i keep hearing a whine - are you running chainless timing or womething like that. i like the sound of the exhaust though. what does it db at?

well then im not sure what that whine is, i dont have probloems with the car at all, so dont know what is.
