What headers should i go with short tube or long tubes for a 383 stroker supercharged, i read if I put short tubes my engine will be running hotter, or do long tube headers kept my engine running cooler
if you go with long tubes your ground clearance might be lost. I am running Dyno Don's shorty headers which are a shorty 13/4 by 2.5 primaries and work and look great. I would recommend going with the shorties, because they are so much easier and don't lose any ground clearance. Find a guy named Dyno Don on these boards, he makes them himself

I ran my 383 with a D-1SC through headman's 1 5/8" shortie headers and did quite well with a 9.55@ 140 although I'm sure the motor really wanted at least an 1 7/8" primary. Being that selection for these cars sucks, I'd try to get something with 1 3/4" primaries or bigger, but I don't think any of them really just outright suck. I'd go for shorties for ground clearance since primary tuning length isn't of large importance with boosted motors.
One of my buddies at the track had shorties and put long tubes on his car and didn't gain much of anything. He's running vortec heads and a small roller cam mostly in the 12.2's 1/4-mile.
I had a set of SLP ceramic coated shorties and the worked great. I sold those and picked up a set of 1 3/4 Dougs LT headers and can actually feel the increase in my low end offline power and since the car is mostly for drag only with only about 30-50 miles a year on the street, ground clearence is really not an issue for me. But I will tell you that the shorties are much easier to install and for the street, there really is not ground clearence issues involved and I was running with a single 4" exhaust with dual outlet muffler.
