Cat no longer legal in california

Well this is the cat I was going to get

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

it's got the AIR tube and everything, but evidently it's not good enough for california and i'm assuming that since jegs doesn't ship things to california that aren't legal, that summit also will not ship things to california that aren't legal, does anyone know a possible loophole/way around this?

Or can anyone suggest a CHEAP california legal cat that's 3"in/out including the AIR tube?

Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Cat no longer legal in california

try google searching 'magnaflow 94019', i just did it and it came up with a bunch of different selections but you may be able to find a different online parts company that sells this cat that doesnt quite obey the whole compliance thing with shipping these parts to cali. best of luck to ya, that was all i can really think other than finding someone on here outside of cali that you trust enough to have this item shipped to then them ship it to you.

Do you have a relative that lives outside cali? If not you could have it shipped to a speed shop outside cali, then drive and get it (if your not too far away from the border of course).

This being the reason I hate California. Nice place to visit since my girlfriends family lives there, too bad it's run by communists.

Re: Cat no longer legal in california

there are a number of now legal cats but you have to watch out because the smog nazi's really want to see the exact cat that came on the car used as a replacement.
but for my 90 305 camaro they want to see MAGNAFLOW HI FLOW UNIVERSAL CONVERTER 43009 at 199.00 or Magnaflow CA Catalytic Converter MONTE CARLO 36019 at 156.00 in cal.
if you check the list that just came out these two are there, but more than twice the cost.
but you have to watch out because some are for 5.0 l and are universal so the numbers may show to a truct and not a camaro.

Technically, no 3" in/out is a legal replacement.

Re: Cat no longer legal in california

Adavance Auto can special order magnaflow parts, can order to a store out of state and pick it up. Definately call first.

A lot of times employees there do not like looking up anything that is not in the computer. Gotta find a way to convince them to flip through the catalogs most of the time, then you have to find someone working there that knows how to process the special orders...

Yeah, but at least a large portion of the hippies stay in Berkley where they belong.

Do you mean this list http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...xemptcat09.pdf

Cuz they aren't listed on there....

Can you link where you saw that those two were listed as legal in CA

And they've screwed up Cali so much that they don't want to live there anymore.....Now they're invading Texas. I'm just thankful that I live in a county that doesn't have emissions testing.........yet.

Re: Cat no longer legal in california

I live in Santa Cruz. During the 70's and 80's Schizophrenia was getting more and more common. The state didn't want to fund the medical help for them so they sent them all to Santa Cruz. If you want to see some crazy hippies, go downtown. haha

Im in the same boat with the catalytic convertors. I have no idea where to buy them asside from the factory (if that). but i dont have to smog until i have to sell it or in 2 years...

Keep us posted!
