New Magnaflow

I have always had flowmasters on anything I have ever driven. I decided to take a chance on Magnaflow on my 90 RS. There is no way I will ever go back to Flowmaster. The shop put on a 3 inch Magnaflow cat, 3 inch intermediate pipe, and si/so Magnaflow muffler. The sound is amazing, a low gurgle at idle, quiet at cruising, and pretty loud and deep when accelerating.

The car previously had dual exhaust with cherrybomb glasspacks and no cats (previous owner). Sounded like a darn tractor and couldnt hear the radio.

Cliffnotes:
-Flowmaster sucks
-Keep your cat
-Dual exhaust is overrated and does not fit.

Re: New Magnaflow

nice. I like magnaflow. your right about the flowmaster. if on the highway I would have to yell at the passanger so they can hear me. I have a gmmg catback with a high flow cat and it. it is nice mellow tone at cruising but if you pass 2300 Rpm it starts to get loud. if i floor it wow it mean

Re: New Magnaflow

It's all about personal preference here. Alot of people think that magnaflow is just too quiet.

A friend from work put a magnaflow catback on his truck and it's pretty quiet at idle and cruising but when he steps on it it really roars, it sounds great.

I plan on ordering the 2055s next month. Are you happy with the fitment, quality, etc. of these headers?

Did it change the volume or tone of the exhaust?

Is there a noticeable improvement on the butt-dyno?

Re: New Magnaflow

if you check the sticky at the top of this page "those with hooker 2055's, come on in" then you can see how happy i was with fitment. butt dyno was awsome first time out. i dont believe that there is better quality for shorties than 2055s. the tone changed a bit too. different engines different sounds though i would think. the magnaflow cat back i put in a week or 2 after the headers and i liked the set up even more.

on a side note- exhaust is always an opinion on sound. i love the sounds of mine. and hated the performance of the flowmaster i took off.
