my new exhaust: take a look

from my research i have learned that the factory exhaust from headers to tips is horrible. and that the best flowing system i can use would be a single 3" system. i have emissions testing so i am not sure what im gonna do about my air injection. i plan on using hedman 68460 (1 5/8 primary 3" collector) lt headers, a custom 3" y pipe, a magna flow 94109 ( 3" in/out) cat, and i chose borla 40085 for a muffler. i will have no exhaust tips just gonna end the exhaust with the muffler. what do you guys think? i just want a good flowing, rumbly exhaust that burns clean enough to pass az emisions

Why would you ask that? Too much header for a 305.... yea..... but he will already have them for a 350+C.I. if he ever upgrades

unless he doesnt plan on going to a larger motor.... then yea too much for a 305tbi especially a near stock one

just my

Re: my new exhaust: take a look

i wouldnt put out the extra cash for long tubes to go on a 305TBI or TPI, UNLESS you plan on building a motor for your car in the future, but if not then dont go with longtubes, you mite want to think about at least turning your exhaust towards the rear of the car, like a turndown pointed back because if your dont it mite cause for some drowning from the sound bouncing of your quarters.

Re: my new exhaust: take a look

i do plan to put a 350 in down the road, but seeing as the car only has 94000 miles i dont see any point in tossing the motor just yet. will the long tubes negatively effect performance? how about the muffler? anyone running one? hows it sound?

Re: my new exhaust: take a look

no longtubes will not effect your performance, i think they have a slight advantage up high on the regular shorties most companys sell for our cars

Driver side header, facing the front of the car, on the collector.

Otherwise your setup sounds fine, but definitely get some turn downs, at least a nice 90* bend out of the muffler into a turn down, or 45* into a turn down towards the rear corner of the bumper? It's up to you.

Re: my new exhaust: take a look

i think everyone was why LT because its a pain and more expensive. they are worth it and no you will not hurt performance unless your running a ridiculous size primary tube. pretty sure your getting the 1 5/8 right?

Re: my new exhaust: take a look

if its being emission tested it won't pass the visual having long tubes on there, and don't know if it will pass the smog test either. A good set of shorties is simple and easy, and you won't lose that much performance
