Need some exhaust help..maybe DynoDon can chime in...??

Ok I am just finishing up my 5 speed to 700r4 swap and have run into a problem. I am currently running Hooker Super Competition long tube headers 2210's with a custom y pipe and 4 inch mufflex exhaust. I needed a custom y pipe to clear the Spohn torque arm that mounts to the supplied crossmember. The fabricated y pipe actually put the tubes above the corssmember and next to the T5 for awesome ground clearance. Seeing as how the 700R4 is so much larger than the T5, I have come to the conclusion that these headers and y pipe will not facilitate the engine to run with these exhaust components so new ones need to be implemented. Here is my problem. My engine is a 383 stroker that makes 503HP and 517TQ and puts down 419HP and 430TQ to the rear wheels. I would think that I would need some sort of shorty or mid length header to meet the flow requirements of my engine(I also have AFR 195 heads and a big COMP cams camshaft). I don't want to have to notch the frame to make anything fit, and since my car is slightly lowered, none of the pipes can hang below the crossmember because they will drag. I would like to know if there are any shorty or mid length headers out there that have 1 3/4 primaries with a 3 inch collector. I don't want or need any smog/emission/air tube stuff. Also, I would like to get a y pipe that follows the factory routing (behind oil pan and under passenger side floorboard) Hopefully this y pipe will be a 3 inch all the way and I will have to have the end expanded to 4 in to mate up with my mufflex system. I have heard that the SLP headers are 1 3/4 but require denting the header tube to fit past the steering shaft?? I came across some posts about DynoDon's headers and they look really sharp and seem like they might fit the bill for me. Is anyone running something similar to this setup and at a comparable power level? Anybody got any ideas for me? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Well, my headers have a 2 1/2" collector and use a 2 1/2" Y pipe(into a 3"), unless you have a tube K member 3" won't fit between the pan and the frame.

I have an '83 TA out here with a 406 using my setup putting down 415HP to the rear wheels so it's more than adequate.

Re: Need some exhaust help..maybe DynoDon can chime in...??

I have a Spohn tubular K member in the front so I do have a little bit more room than a stock configuration vehicle. I am just having a hard time trying to figure out exactly what I want to do. My engines HP and TQ figures are pretty much identical. I chose the long tubes initially because they make more low to midrange torque production. On the other hand I am switching to an automatic with a 3600 stall converter and torque converters do tend to multiply torque some. Maybe it wouldn't hurt going to a shortie header. From what I understand, shorties tend to make more upper rpm horsepower, but how much it will change my setup, I am uncertain. That leads me to another question and a new post...
