Is this exhaust holding me back??

My motor specs and times are in my sig.

Is the Hedman 1 5/8 primarys to small for the AFR 190's? Should I stepup to a 1 3/4 LT like the Hooker 2210 or some Dougs?

What about the dual 2.5 in pipe with the Dynomax bullets? Should I go to the 3" with either a X or H pipe and maybe cutouts? Or is it worth it?

What do you guys suggest?

What you should go with is a set of Dyno Dons shorty headers. They have a 1 3/4 primary and 2.5 collector. They fit perfect and work great. As far as exhaust, the road i went is to keep my 3 inch catback and put a cut out right after the front tire. or you can buy either a 3.5 or 4 inch exhaust. All of these will flow enough for you

Re: Is this exhaust holding me back??

Is going from 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 going to make that much difference? What about going from LT's to shorties and a y-pipe. Will I loose much low end tq?

I dont think the 2.5 in pipe and the dynomax bullets are holding me back. Maybe the headers and not having a X or H pipe.

What about this setup. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/30667/10002/-1

Im not stuck on LT's and dual pipes if I can get the same or better performance out of a shorties/y-pipe setup. I assume that I would need either 3in or 4in pipe to acheive the same results.

How much is a set of Dyno Dons shorties?

All the 1 3/4 headers are going to due is move your power band up around 500 rpm. I your car was a track only car and you needed to squeeze out ever HP out of the motor I would say do it but it looks like you have a nice street strip car. I also have the hedman 1 5/8 headers and moroso spiral muffers and I think there perfect for the street. If i were you i wouldnt worry about the shorties,y pipe and all that your further ahead with what you have now.

Are you running a X or H pipe?

The bullets I run flow great. I just wonder if cutouts would make a difference.

I run neither h or x pipe. I run true duals to moroso mufflers and they dump b4 there rear tires. short and sweet.

The bullets and spirals flow very well but i think your only gonna pick up a small amout of HP if you try cut outs becuase the mufflers you have are basicly no restriction as it is.

Re: Is this exhaust holding me back??

personaly i would add a x or h pipe. it will tone the sound some but help power a little too. i ran hedman lts with 2 1/2 true duals and flowmaster 10series dumped with no x or h for awhile. im going back to true duals soon though for the new motor im building. im gona go with 3in duals with x pipe and bullets dumped at the axle until i get time to route the pipes out the back to fullsize mufflers.

Re: Is this exhaust holding me back??

How far back is the correct place for the X or H pipe to be effective?

Re: Is this exhaust holding me back??

im unsure about the most effective place im sure there is a science on it but mine will be right about where the end of the trans tailshaft is and then run the pipes alomg the ds tunnel from there.
