chambered exhaust help

hey ive been looking into a new exhaust system, and ive settled on chambered. but i dont know much about it, i just want any advice on what the best setup would be, pipe size length so on so on. i got an 87 RS, im also wanting to do a side exhaust system to go with it, if possible, in az if you get a historic vehicle plate (25 years old +) you dont have to go through emissions anymore, so im not concerned about containing that haha. but thats a couple years away, so if you got any advice about chambered exhaust and side pipes systems, please let me know

Re: chambered exhaust help

I can't help you out on side pipe setups. I went with a much easier to install GMMG setup.

Re: chambered exhaust help

What I did is run shorty style headers and fabbed a 2 1/2" y pipe following the stock dual cat routing but in place of the cats I put (2) 18" Chambered mufflers, next I turned 45* and followed the stock routing straight back towards the rear and then put 90* turns towards the passenger side; exits dual in front of passenger rear tire using the 4th gen Z 28 offset megaphone SS tips side by side, a true 2 1/2" dual system. Had to fab up a few hangers to the transmission torque arm mount and to the sub frame by the passenger side rear tire.

For reference I have about $300 worth of materials and about 30 hours labor cutting, test fitting, bending and welding, as I fabbed the headers too.

It is for sure nascar inspired with pretty good ground clearance, now this isn't my daily driver so ground clearance/noise were not my main concern, because it's pretty loud but sounds like no other chevy I've heard in person, very close to the sounds on GMMG website. For those wondering it also clears UMI subframe connectors perfectly.

Next time I put it on a lift I'll see if I can shoot some pics,
