Re: Long tube headers/true duals with 2" drop?

I have true duals with long tubes, I had to have the piping run under the crossmember for the tranny and then straight back on either side of the driveshaft.. tucked up as close to the floorpans as possible. That's your worst scrapping spot, where the pipes have to go under the crossmember. I have a lowered camaro and 2.5" true dual with longtubes, it has about 2" or maybe 3" of clearance at that point.

What type of mufflers are you running? I was considering dual thrush mufflers that dump right near the axle.

Re: Long tube headers/true duals with 2" drop?

I used two 2.5" in/out flowmaster super 40 series. I have the exhaust run under, not over, the rear axle and come up to either side of the spare wheel area, so that the mufflers are under each set of taillights, and they are at a 45 degree angle so they are not sitting straight up or straight down. If I had to do it all over again, I would have run a single 4" system which is just as good as dual 2.5", or close enough to it. These cars are simply not made to handle dual exhaust with full length headers without floor pan modifications or routing similar to stock exhaust systems, but then you'd have to have shortys.
