smog removal with stock manifolds

Hey i tried to search to find an answer for this already but i got some conflicting information. I bought a set of supercomp hooker longtubes and had a question about the removal of the smog equipment. The car is an 83 firebird with the LG4 305 and V belt by the way.

alright so i plan to have a custom true dual made for the car at the same time before i install the headers, but in the mean time id like to remove the smog crap (florida ftw). now if i rip everything out of there what will i need to do while the stock manifolds are on there to seal them?

also does anyone know of a decent write up for doing this? i havent been able to find one for a carbureted car.

thanks a lot in advance.

Re: smog removal with stock manifolds

The exhaust manifolds will have two pipe ends with check valves and hoses attached on the tops - remove the hoses and cap the ends with standard pipe threaded plugs/caps from the hardware store (Lowes/Home Depot). Then yank out the rest of the goods.
