Exhaust cut-out question

Ok guys I need help with this. I have hooker long tubes going to a mufflex y pipe to a edelbrock cat back, there is no cat on the exhaust. What I'm trying to figure out, is it worth putting a cut out on my car after the y-pipe? Will it make more power or should I leave it the way it is? Thanks

Re: Exhaust cut-out question

it will make more "seat feeling" power, but nothing too big, would be alot louder!

Re: Exhaust cut-out question

if you have the HP. or a moded ENG install 2 cutouts about 10" back from the headers.

the one im doing now

hooker 2210 Headers

into a Y pipe about 8 to 10" into the Y pipe I install cut out's on Ea side then the rest of the way into the Y pipe and then into edelbrock cat back
and RPM muffler. it's 3" tube from headers all the way back to muffler

at the track you can open them up by removing the wing nuts $ plates.

a long time ago when we made the TQ tubes to go onto headers
we would take the 3"tube about 15" long and bolt them the the headers
use a cheap spray paint. on them make a run or 2.. take them off.
you would see how the tubes are discolord.. cut them 1/2 in after the discolor that would give you max TQ $ tune from your header.

most of the time it would be about 8" to 10" long (ball park)

Re: Exhaust cut-out question

Completely different setup but i made 10 HP less on the dyno with my cutouts open a few years ago. I was running longtubes and true duals with no X pipe at the time.
