Hello everyone. Has anyone used this system? Any response would be great. Thanks.
i had the standard magnaflow race mufffer on my mufflex and it was too loud.
replaced it with a 7" round body magnaflow diesel muffler and toned it down by MILES.
Additional Information Material: 100% Stainless Steel - Mirror Finish Body Shape: 5in.x8in. Oval Inlet/Outlet Size: 4in./4in. Body Length: 14in. Overall Length: 20in. Core Size: 4in. Position: Center/Center
Features and Benefits:RACE/SPECIALTY SERIES: Dyno tested and proven to make power. Performance gains in horsepower and torque.
Many racing venues are now requiring to be equiped with sound dampening devices to met strict DB level requirements. Any vehicle that cannot meet the restrictions cannot race. MagnaFlow offers a straight-through, Wide Open Performance Race Series muffler to significantly reduce DB levels on high performance vehicles without any loss in performance. The Race Series features a stainless steel body, end caps and perforated core, and a stainless weld bead.
All mufflers are reversible for custom installation. Backed by a Lifetime Warranty. All welded and built to last.

This is the muffler posted above. Thanks for your quick reply.
yip.
thats the one.
i like it rather quiet, and for a full catback, it was a lil loud for my tastes. it will however be a great upgrade over the flowmaster or the spintech. i dont like either one of those.
interior noise will kill you.
that muffler can be had much cheaper from other sites. shop around for price.
good luck.

too many mods to type.
6.23@109.71 pump gas. all motor.
Ive got the kit with a spintech muffler. It sounds ok. My gto w/ duals and magnaflow mufflers sounds better I think. The kit gives a real deep tone. Kinda loud. Louder than my gto.
Thanks Guys! I ordered the kit Mufflex kit w/Magnaflow. 4" Muff/4" Cat Back Tips point toward the ground. Looks to be the best cat back for a TTA since it has the straight through 4" muff and 4". You do not need back pressure since it's turbo car. $645 shipped
Yes... Very nice.. clean install.. Fits much better than the Hooker system. Sounds GREAT! I could not be happier
Hard to make a V6 sound good but this system does the trick! My turbo does will quiet it down some... I am not sure how it will sound on V8's. Prolly loud...
could we hear a vid clip if you could get one thanks
Sorry for the delay guys. Remember, this is on a Turbo Buick V6. Besides the displacement, the exhaust obviously travels through the turbo so it's going to quiet it down a bit.
I do not want to mislead anyone. One long time member of these boards posted that this exhaust was too loud a while back.
Personally, IMO this exhaust a top of the line for a turbo powered 3rd Gen. You want the least amount of back pressure on a turbo car unlike the naturally aspirated motor.

I will post a vid on youtube soon. Later
You never want backpressure on any motor, it's just a matter of finding the right balance between maximum flow and the best velocity for the motor.

Congrats on the installation, you seem very content.
I have this system on my car that I just got going 2 weeks ago. I replaced the Spintech with the magnaflow race muffler listed above and have to say it's pretty loud. Idle is not to horrible but anytime your on the gas people will hear it from long ways away.
Was thinking of trying out the spintech muffler since it's still sitting in the box but well see so far the magnaflow one is not to obnoctious but I haven't hooked up my blower yet

Let me rephrase that a little...
It is not a desirable trait to have back-pressure if you are designing the motor/system/computer, you would want vacuum if anything to aid in removal of gases from the cylinder during the exhaust stroke. Achieving this removes as much chance as possible of losing power from the cylinder trying to push all those excess gases out.
Now if the OEM system requires back pressure, and the computer is calibrated for back-pressure, YOU WANT BACK-PRESSURE. Because the computer is designed to accommodate a certain amount of back-pressure with the sensors, and without it, your car will run much worse.

I doubt you'll find the spintech to be any better. I have no experience with the 4" stuff, nor the magnaflow, but I did have a 3" spintech on my IROC, and it was obnoxious. It sounded cheap (think 78 Buick station wagon with a hole in the muffler) and was very, very loud. I replaced it with a 3" dynomax Ultra and it got very, very quiet. I can't believe that a muffler that has a 3" straight through design that I can stick my arm all the way through would quiet my exhaust so much.
So... that said, while I'm sure the round magnaflow muffler is louder than a Dynomax of similar size, I'd expect it to still be a good deal quieter than the spintech.

What sensors use anything in the exhaust stream for data except the o2 sensors? There arent any. Computer does not care if there is back pressure or not. Backpressure gives greater chance of reversion of exhaust gas back into the cylinder which dilutes the incoming air charge and thus reduces the amount of power you can produce.
The computer is tuned based on the factory setup with regards to flow capability, not pressure. If you replace the entire system with high flowing stuff, a retune is necessary to get the most you can out of the exhaust's new scavenging ability. Efficient exhaust systems pull spent gases out of the chamber and that effect helps draw in new air to fill the cylinder. More air is drawn in with a better scavenging exhaust so you may need more fuel and timing to compensate (Just went lean so add fuel to richen back up). Anytime you add more fuel and air you can create more power, so thats one reason exhausts add power. Less backpressure is good thing.
regardless, i've heard a mufflex system on a few LS1 cars, a 383 thirdgen, and a 406 thirdgen (87 TA's car who had the flowmaster muffler). All of them sounded extremely strong. Good tone and pretty loud. 87TA's car sounded incredible, I have a vid somewhere with that flowmaster on it. Doesnt sound much different than straight pipe at WOT, maybe just a little quieter.
I had a custom fabbed single 4" on my two motors using dynomax ultraflo round muffler. 6" case. I also tried the Dynatech Split-flow which was a borla XR1 copy. extremely loud for a 11 to 1 383 but fine for a turbo motor. Actually quiet on a turbo car. Both mufflers were loud onthe 383 but the dynomax ultraflo was a good bit quieter. The sound of the XR1 clone was just intoxicating at WOT however.
