Hedman Headers & Y Pipe

Although I have been reading information on this site for a couple years this is my first post. I recently purchased Hedman 68470 headers and the 17470 y pipe. Everything I have been reading says that this y pipe requires a gasket, the header flanges do not slide down to meet the y pipe flange. I put the headers on yesterday, fit the y pipe in and snugged it up assuming these a ball & socket style. Has anyone used this combo? Jegs website does say that this y pipe is for these headers. Help please!

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The ball & socket type joints don't need a gasket. Other versions have a 3-bolt flat flange that needs a gasket.

I think you're right. No details on the 17470 listing, but the 17478 description says ball & socket flange. And, the 68470 description says ball & socket, and if you click on the "all suggested parts" "exhaust pipes/y-pipes" link, it takes you to the 17478.

Re: Hedman Headers & Y Pipe

The 17470 y pipe is in fact a 3 bolt flange hook up. I have one yet to install.
