SW Long Tube Headers, Custom 3" Y-Pipe, 4" Mufflex Catback, Good Clearance, T-56
So my plan from the start was to get the max amount of ground clearance I can reasonably get and have a great flowing exhaust. I did have to make a sacrifice and go back to the transmission mounted torque arm but it was the only way I could see it work to have the driver side pipe cross over with out getting in the way of things.
I started out with Stainless Works 1 3/4" header, these went in good and worked well with my AFR 195 straight plug heads, here is my original posts on them https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...ess-works.html another in the car https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...rks-1-3-a.html One problem with them though I had to grind away lot more then expected around the slave area but nothing I'am going to worry about.
Next up was my custom Y-pipe I made out of 3 flowmaster 3" S-bends that came in a 6 pipe kit and I also used a flowmaster dual 3" to 4" out Y-collector. I just bought a lincoln mig welder so after a few practice welds I started fabbing up the Y-pipe which turned out good I thought. The big key to getting good ground clearance is having a double hump crossmember, I'am using the one from Skulte Performance for the t-56 tranny unfortunately they are no longer in business.
Lastly my mufflex 4" catback, here is my original thread on it when I first got it https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...back-huge.html Now when I ordered it they didn't have the magnaflow race muffler option at the time and after hearing people say they gained HP changing out the spintech muffler I decided to pick up the 4" magnaflow race muffler and install it instead. Now I must say everything is pretty tight when installing the 4" catback so if you don't need that size of pipe stick with a 3 1/2 which is plenty big enough for most cars. Overall the sound the car made when I was running naturally aspirated was kind of crappy, almost to hollow but after hooking up the blower back on I can say she sounds perfict now, it's like a explosion of power Unfortunatly she is also very loud now when stomping on it and can be heard from long ways away, inside the cab at regular driving speed it's not to bad but is on the loud side.
Now for some pic's

looks good. Nice and clean, no crazy bends or anything!
would you be pissed if i said my 4" setup is tucked completely up in the tunnel and you can't even see if from the side?
my car sits lower, so i have more room around the driveshaft though.
what i will recommend, is some kind of bolt and tab to hold the exhaust together where it goes up and over the axle. My experience with the band clamps like you are using is that over time they work loose and the pipes come apart.

Thanks all!
I know what your saying about being tucked up and there is room there but I kind of wanted the space for removing my drive shaft without taking things apart. I might go back in there and fix it up some but so far I have no issue with it.
About the clamp over the axe, I'am not actually using the one that comes in the kit it's a little different style but if it don't hold I'll be doing the bolt idea for sure.
Go ahead and post a pic of your setup I'am sure me and others would like to see what you have done.

Man that is a nice exhaust on there. Liking the measuring tool as well for clearance. Got a quick question for you and this may sound dumb but who made the torque arm and trans X-member.

Torque arm is a Spohn one with a custom axe bracket since the one that came with it does't work to well with the 9" rear. Crossmember I bought from Skulte Performance but he closed his bisness down a few years ago, think you can get something like that from hawks now though.

I made it out of flowmaster 3" S-bends then cut and wielded as needed, that part wasn't to bad to fab up just takes time.

Beautiful. Just what I have planned for my 383. Do you think the extra cubes would help with the "hollow" sound? or would you suggest running 3 1/2" pipe back from the Y-pipe? I'm looking for a mellow tone, but not hollow. Any chance we can get a NA sound clip?

Don't have a N/A sound clip, probably make one though in the summer once I switch over to a Mini-ram and mono throttle body and redo the tune.
