help please. can't decide on a muffler
I have a true dual setup and can't seem to find the right muffler.
I'm looking for something that:
-is noticeable at idle (but not something that will **** off your neighbors)
-And sounds mean when you get on it.
I've done alot of searching
Magnaflow is too quiet at idle
Flowmaster sounds good at idle but that's about it for it
Borla is too much $
Anyone have suggestions?

Heres a video with the Powersticks =
You can do this video thing with any muffler you want.
Just type in youtube ,Camaro then the name of the muffler

To be honest, I prefer long glasspacks.
My car's not too loud at idle, and of course it sounds good when you get into it.

This is my car idling in the garage, Its a Flowmaster Force II exhaust that uses a 30 series race muffler, not loud but you cant miss it and at full song it sounds fantastic, yea I know all the Flowmaster haters are out there but its one of the best selling mufflers on the market for a reason.

i put dynomax on my truck (4.8L Silverado), i like the sound of it. I was gonna go with flowmaster, but after doing some research, they're not good anymore. Apparently you can only hope for a year out of them before they rust out. I put a flowmaster on my T/A about 9 years ago, i love the sound of it personally.

Which one rusted out after a year? I was even looking into cherry bombs but as an earlier post describes I'm looking for something with a noticeable idle (that won't get me into early morning trouble) yet sounds like a beast at Wot. I'll probably end up with the Dynomax Super Turbos (x2). Has anyone used them before. I'd hate to be flushing money down the toilet

I talked to quite a few people when i was looking for mufflers for my truck, about 8 people said they tried flowmasters but they rusted out after almost a year. I looked into it, apparently theyre the only muffler company not using stainless steel inside is flowmaster, so theyre rusting from the inside out. But that was all the recent ones, the metal is apparently thinner too.
I used a dynomax on my truck, i cant remember which one, but it has a good sound. Has a nice low tone at idle, gets loud when fully open, have gotten a lot of compliments on it. The only thing about the dynomax vs. flowmaster: flowmaster is basically the only chambered exhaust, which means the sound is produced by several baffles causing the sound to bounce around, whereas the dynomax has fiberglass packing. The problem with "glass packs" is that overtime the fiberglass blows out, becomes more compacted, or just wears out, so it'll get louder and louder over time.

Re: help please. can't decide on a muffler
I had a 78 TA sbc 355 w/Magnaflow dual exhaust & glass packs & I swear it would wake the dead. I also felt magnaflow was great for performance as I used to take that car to the strip.... I have flowmasters( came w/car, I'm not a big fan) on my 3rd gen and they work fine, no rust issues yet (3 years old) but not duals, best wishes

Thanks for the feedback racerx520. Looks like it's the dymomax for me (due to money constraints) and I coincidentially have their dual kit.

On second thought, that may be a little too quiet

Re: help please. can't decide on a muffler
The video I posted has True duals with powersticks and is a stock 5.7 with 2460 Hooker Headers .
Its a very small chance you will find a video using Power Sticks and your exact build.
I have a 7 year old Flowmaster Muffler with a tiny bit of rust. They are still making them with 16-gauge stainless or aluminized steel tubing.

Re: help please. can't decide on a muffler
Another Force II Flowmaster with the 30 Series Race muffler... Another thing that makes it sound particular, is that it's a 1 in / 1 out muffler, so it inherently flows better than a 1 in 2 out... tail pipe is hidden... had mine for years, not rusted... but car is stored inside...
I was told by Flowmater, that this 30 Series is not made anymore.... ??? Cuz I had originally ordered it with another muffler and it came with that from Summit...
