Decided to build the biggest exhaust possible because dual 3" is not enough
It should do 28% more flow and supposively be 16% lighter over all compared to my dual 3" not including mufflers.

3" downpipes flare up to 3.5"

Plan to go under axle. PIpe is no lower than LCA relocation brackets and with a 27-28" tire, i got plenty of clearance. No idea on muffler yet, maybe an aeroturbine or bullet, we shall see how loud it is. I want it quiet again.

Single 4" through a spintech here too and its very loud. Not really any good way to quiet down THAT much gas flow

There are a lot of mufflers available in 3.5.... sort of. more than 5 inch probably. Im guessing you dont want to split it into two 3.5 inch pipes to get twice the mufflage?

Have you ever tried one of those SUV mufflers? I've thought about putting a Flowmaster.... 50? I think it's a 50 on mine, since I've got a 3.5 single I'd like to quiet down. My car isnt that fast so trying to get the volume level down would be... nice. Im not positive but I get the impression the extra volume (As in length x width x height) of the muffler is what helps quiet it down, and we actually have a good amount of space in the back of the car to put something like that.

Lol thought about it. Thats def a backup plan but proceeding with single 5" into a diamond eye performance louvered core diesel muff. 24" long 7-8" fat case. Hopefully its quiet enough

Best way to quiet these cars is a bullet in the I pipe region then split the exhaust over axle and run 2 ultraflo or magnaflo round case mufflers, ones with a thicker case for more sound deadening. It sucks to have 3-4 mufflers on the car for weight and cost but its the only way to quiet things down

Exhaust is welded, need to add muffler and turndown and hangers. Hope to do all that tonight

Interesting. I didnt see dimensions on that case? Too bad i didnt see this brand earlier. I considered aero turbine, diamond eye, mbrp, and just a dynomax bullet

5050XL aero turbine would sound amazing! I found their mufflers 3yrs ago and have installed them on a L92 Denali and 1.4L Turbo dart. I'm a huge fan of their products and sound. Hard to beat!

Gonna try this arrangement for now.... MBRP louvered core muffler. Its ginormous lol
I have finished welding and getting hangers installed. Gonna coat it black header paint and finish things up this week. Havent had chance to run car due to an unknown tune/electrical issue. Car for some reason doesnt want to run now, pig rich and wont stay idling. Gonna scan it tomorrow. No idea whats up but doesnt surprise me, this car always been tempermental.

Re: Sewer pipe: 5 inch single

Did you fry any electrical items while welding?? Or did you find the problem elsewhere??

Sounds badass and crackly!!! No denting the 5" pipe to get it under the axle a little better? It looks.....serious.

You could add another turbo to kill some sound.. Twin to single compound setup. Ha!! I feel bad for you supercharged engine owners...Procharger setups always seem INSANE loud...

Re: Sewer pipe: 5 inch single

Well i found one electrical issue but doubt it had anything to do with the startup.

I ended up cleaning plugs off again since they were wet with fuel. Got it fired and recalibrated the wideband to get some readings. For some reason car runs rich at idle now but seems ok if i held rpm to 2000. Not sure why but def needs tuned more. We didnt spend much time on driving and idle/cold start tuning. Got it close to work and focused on wot tune to see the numbers lol

Gonna retune a few areas this friday. Eventually i'll get hp tuners to do this myself but i got a few buds that can tune so makes sense to have them do it for now.
Need to redyno to see if the exhaust helped. Hope to see 50-60 hp at top boosts. It may be more than that, it may be less

I got some painted pics with clearance shots. This thing clears extremely well. I had less with some ppl's 3" catbacks and y pipes!

Anaconda! 63 lbs from ypipe slip back. Not bad. Dual 3 was a tad heavier.

Car sounds amazing. Need to get a good clip. Everyone loves how it sounds so far

More ground clearance than some 3" catback kits i have seen! Thats diesel 5" and clears exceptionally well

yeah that's different haha sounds good man once you get it dialed in it will sound a lot better I bet. i am running a 3.5 inch with spintech muffler is sounds beasty but not like yours... I have one question for you do you have any problems with the exhaust when your diff is dropped down to full extension? like if you hit a big bump and your car donkey bonks the rear end up..

Not really from what i can tell. Theres alittle gap so it allows some movement and it seems flexible enough. Car is pretty rigid i dont seem to have alot of movement. I cant drop rear all way on stands tho.

looks really good the launch looks strait how is the 60 foot? it hook up good with all that power? I have always thought about routing a exhaust under the axle but I would always scare myself away from it

Re: Sewer pipe: 5 inch single

I'd be happy with an 8.3 at high 160's

My buddys supra makes 1245 whp so far and i wanna match that. He's lighter and says shooting for high 7's. already went 8.4's pulling chute at about 1000 ft

Re: Sewer pipe: 5 inch single

Hey Orr, I'm basically building it's "little brother" 2x2.5's to 3.5". I see you've chosen to go with the stock routing. Was this due to ground clearance trying to go past the trans xmember? I know you're turbo and that changes a lot of component location but for my NA/header application it looks like the best path is along the trans then the stock route from there. Also, it appears you are going under the axle?

Re: Sewer pipe: 5 inch single

Yes my spohn crossmember makes it somewhat difficult to get around for say a long tube header y pipe

When i had 3" into 4" single y pipe on my long tube 383, i snaked under trans crossmember and body subframe, and it bottomed out alot til it self ovalized lol. Doin it over i would have made a better trans crossmember

2.5" is easier to fit. But stock routing has the best clearance.

I went under axle because it was easier. Bending 5" over axle is difficult. Could be done but i didnt want to buy more bends and attempt it. Cool thing about this exhaust is it has 2 disconnect points i can get to without jacking up car. Can quickly take off exhaust if need be.
Bad thing is on the dyno you cant strap car down, pipes are in the way so it had to come off.
