Dual Exhaust?

Does anyone know of or made their own dual exhaust? Other than the dynomax one talked about on this board.

i found a pretty good way of doing dumped dual exhaust but it is 2.5" pipes.....i got my hooker long tubes, then i bought a $20 set of heddman collector extensions. they have an "s" bend in them and it is in just the right spot to clear the subframe where the trans x-member is. then i connected a section of about 18" of straight pipe to the hedman pipe. for some extra clearance i took a floor jack and jacked up the floor pan right under the rear seats and then put my 40 series flowmaster mufflers on. i have about 4.5-5" of ground clearance. i scrape every once in a while but i just have to be careful where i drive. it worked out pretty good and it sounds bad as all hell. flowmaster 40 series with a cam like mine make the thunder of *** (or satan for that matter) come out from under the car. i will get some pics soon. i have to bring it in to work so i can put it on a rack so i can yank the tranny for a rebuild.

Liljay,
I'm running dynomax headers with 2.5" collectors and 2 1/4 pipes. I had the pipes run along the stock routing side by side and split off right before the tranny mount. I did not modify the floor boards at all to have the mufflers fit. The shop just mounted the exhuast right up under with the car as is. I'm sure you could do it for more clearance but it isn't a "have to" type of thing. I have no problems with scraping or clearance (I have air shocks in the rear to help). The H-pipe was put on right after the split about a few inches after the tranny mount. The pipes run along the driveshaft but not right next to it. The flows were mounted right under the rear seats and I had turn downs put on. Trust me.....you'll love em. Don't let anyone tell you one 3" pipe is better.

cool, thanks for the reply. what size tires and what springs are you running in the back? I had thought about using air shocks too, but i dont know how its going to effect the handling of the car, i still want to be able to corner fast if needed . I guess i want everything, but am probably going to have to give up something. I would like to lower the car with the eibach kit and put good shocks/struts on it. however i dont think that would be possible. although my buddy has a 89 t/a and has 275/50/15 on back and 265/50/15's on the front and the car sits pretty low with stock springs. I am probably going to run the same tires so I might not even want to lower it, who knows, lol. So far i cant find a shop around here that will do the dual exhaust. I can trailer it somewhere about 2 hours away and they will do it, i have seen there work and its good. I am seriously considering using PVC pipe to make my exhaust. my plan is to install the headers, and the mufflers under the rear seats were i want them, hang the rear of the mufflers like i want and put jackstands in front to keep them level. with the long tubes, its pretty much a straight shot back with(from the pics i have seen)2 bends. I figure I can do this using 2in or 2.5in PVC pipe, a few 45 degree elbows, get it tucked up where i want it, with an h pipe, glue it, then take it to the muffler shop and say. "Ugh, me wantem pipe like dat one!", the happy muffler guy will say"ok" and the BAM!!!, i have dual exhaust. This is my plan unless I get a new one. Yes its alot of work for some, i personally dont think so, and yes i will have some cash in the PVC pipe, but my neighbor is a contractor so even that isnt a big deal. I know that 3.5 single or even 3in single would do pretty well, but i do not care what anyone says, true duals sound better and in a world full of mustangs(yes stangs sound good)us f body guys need to let then know we are still out there. sorry this was so long, i got to rambling and not paying attention. see ya

Liljay,
Stock springs and the rear tires are 265/50 r15. They hook like hell and the airshocks are great for cornering (reduces body roll). My car sits pretty low for stock springs but I'm probably going to get eibachs for the front and lower the airs in the rear a little.

Are your friends 275/50r15s on stock 7 inch wide rims?? my 265s are and they're hangin on for dear life .

Fast3rdGen i got two more questions for you. You posted something about your headers (i think it was you anyway) about having trouble installing them. Would you still recomend them and how did you hang the exhaust? Sorry for all the questions.

installing the headers was not the problem. see my block is only drilled for a staggared pattern starter and i have a large diameter flexplate. i was having starter issues. if i had a small flexplate and provision for a straight patter starter i could have used an lt1 starter. i had to go with an s10 starter for a 4.3. it fit perfect and is not much bigger than an lt1 starter anyways. the way i hung my exhaust may seem pretty ghetto but it is cheap and it works real well.......my grandfather built the house we live in and did all the pluming and electrical himself too. well...when he routed all the pluming he used this steel band stuff the support the pipes between the joyces(or whatever the hell they are called) it comes in rolls and it is just a 3/4" strip of galvanized steel that has holes punched all the way along it. i just cut stripes of that and ran it under the outlets of my mufflers and attatched it to the floor pan. it supports the pipe in a sort of "V" shape.

yes i would still recomend these hooker supercomps to ANYONE!
