Front and rear fiberglass bumpers.

I was originally going to convert my T/A into a Knight Rider replica, but have since decided against it due to work being flaky. Soooo, what I need to know (I figure I'd ask here first) are there any aftermarket vendors for front and rear fiberglass bumpers for my 82-84??? I sold my original warpy urethane bumper skins, and need some good straight replacements. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Front and rear fiberglass bumpers.

I've searched high and low, and unfortunately they don't appear to exist for an 84 firebird/ trans am. The closest you'll find is a complete fiberglass front end that is one piece with the bumper cover and fenders, but they're like $800 or more, very thin, and they're meant to be bolted onto a tube frame drag car... hardly a suitable stock replacement. I did some searching and found a very nice original front and rear bumber cover that aren't warped, so just keep looking and you'll find something. Any bumper cover from 82-84 will work for you, you can always drill holes for the 1984 T/A front and rear ground effects if your car has them.

check out earlythirdgen.com too, there are several of us "early bird" owners there that can help with specific 82-84 questions.

Re: Front and rear fiberglass bumpers.

That's what I figured. I know VFN sells rear bumpers for mine. I was hoping someone made a front out of fiberglass. Looks like I'll have to find a stock one to replace mine, or I remember Year One selling replacement urethane ones. The only thing I'm not really into is trying to get old paint off of a good old one.

Re: Front and rear fiberglass bumpers.

The rear bumper I was referred to was less than 200. I think it was right around 180-190 if memory serves.

Re: Front and rear fiberglass bumpers.

I don't know the range of interchangability, but I have a couple of
good front bumper skins of the '90 formula variety. If you're interested,
PM me, & I'll provide some pics. Will need to ship from TX.

You know you could ask VFN (Call preferably) and ask them about a fiberglass front bumper.

They may not have it on their site yet.
