Posting this for a friend, he just bought an 87 camaro, with a supposed recently built 355 motor, all he knows it has stock camaro 305 heads (been ported and rebuilt), it has a .488/.488 lift cam, flat top pistons, stock intake manifold, edlebrock 700 cfm carb, he has a 350 turbo with a shift kit and 2500 stall. He has a posi rear-end with 3.73 gears. Basically he is curious to how much horsepower this car is putting out, he isn't ready to take the car to a dyno so.. The previous owner told him the motor puts out between 350-400 hp. So any guesses on how much horse power this thing puts out.

Hey there. I have an 89 Iroc with an LB9 TPI. She wont idle, I have to keep the RPM's up for the engine to stay running, I also have to give her some gas to get it started, before I did not. This just started this morning, and the past two days I have noticed a whistle behind the driver seat that will grow higher in pitch as the RPM's go up. My SES light does come on, however it has since i got the car 6 months ago.I ran the code a long time ago but cant remember what it was, I believe it had to do with the burn off sensor in my MAF. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

im running the 7qt kickout pan, high volume o/p, standard pressure. 20w50 oil.
the problem is around 5500 up to 7000 rpm's oil is pissing out the baffle and v/c gasket all over the driverside header and smoking me out. ive heard of a restrictor you can install in the center plug on back of the block, to limit the oil to the top of the engine. was wanting input before i yank the trans out again, thinking of pulling the motor and putting a stocker pump in it, any input would be great. :thanks:
and yes i tried new v/c gaskets.

Flex Plate Replacment?

Hey guys,

Well after doing a search I believe my 91 camaro rs (305 automatic) may have a damaged flex plate. When accelerating from a stop it sounds like a bunch of rocks tumbling around behind my engine. When I start it up and put it in gear and makes that same sound, but kind of a knocking noise. It quiets down after warming up, if I put it in park or neutral, and when It's in over drive.

I'm looking at ordering a new flex plate off of partstrain.com, and found a B&M replacment and a Hays replacment. I'll probably go with Hays, it's about $30 cheaper than B&M's. Has anyone used the Hays flex plate? Good or bad?

Also wanted to double check that 153 teeth is correct for my car. Thanks

I have a 1983 Crossfire Injected Trans Am 305. Recently I have noticed a difference in the car. I will start my car up and everything will be running fine, until i slow down at a stop light and my car RPM's up once I stop and pushes the car forward and the check engine light pops on. Once this happens the car seems like its struggling for gas. I will step on the gas and about 2 seconds later the car will respond. Any ideas on what this would be would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hey guys and gals,

Ok, so yesterday I had my car tuned after it began to run kinda rough last week and my mechanic found that the #8 plug was fouled enough to probably be the cause and explained reasons that this in itself could cause the problem, with the ultimate solution of course being relatively costly major engine work.

But, he did give me an alternative solution, abeit not a permanent fix, that might keep me on the road for a while longer...that being a Spark Plug Non-fouler.

I gave him the go-ahead to install it (added $9.95 to the final tune-up cost) and he completed the tune-up and the car is running great.

So, I'm curious what you all think about this small modification, how effective it is, how long can I expect the plug to remain "unfouled" and, if there are any down-sides to using one of these gizmos?

Thanks,

Gene

:)
