Hi all, I'm new to the board, love what some of you have done to your cars! Really got me exited to get my GTA back on the road. Unfortunately my situation will not allow me to do much work by myself. I live in a townhouse with no garage and no space to park an extra car to work on it. My car is sitting back home in Florida, has been for about 2 years now that I've been up here in Maryland. What I'm wondering is since I will need to have someone else do all the work, how far would ten thousand dollars get me? 15? 20? Its time for me to get a new car and I figure I can spend 30,000 on a new Camero or get the Trans Am back to excellent condition. I'd much rather drive the Trans Am! It has a tired 350 in it with about 150,000 miles. I had a shop replace the original auto tranny with a T5 a few years ago, but I was not impressed with the work and I'm afraid to give the car to someone now to work on it. Anybody know of a good shop in the Tampa Bay area, or Central MD? I'm in the initial planning phase here, just looking for any advice on how to get started.

Hey guys I'm looking at buying an 84 Z28, it's super clean with 44,000 documented miles but cant find a good source on the trim tag for these cars. The tag is printed as followss.
E 03C FP87 N 154500
59L 59U ENAMEL
648 AR9 CCL
Z28 D80
1 048745 345652
Does anyone have any idea how to decode these. Certain ones are common, such as fp87 Is Z28 sport coupe and N stands for norfolk. I know D80 is a rear spoiler, the paint code is 59 but on the tag its a 2 part and I cant find them. Any help would be awesome

What's up guys, i've been gone for a few years but I used to be a member a few years, but the car (90 rs) got totaled and i've owned a truck ever since.

So now im back on the hunt and i'm wanting to restore a 3rd gen! So here's my questions:

What are the best camaros (not firebirds/trans ams) to restore as far as options go (power windows/leather seats, small conveniance items like that)

as far as engines go i'd like (i.e. love!) to get a 350tpi (these started in 87 and were in the iroc-z's and iroc-z28's right?)

Here are the main things im looking for:

power window/locks
no t-tops or convertables
a factory v8 would be nice
ground effect kit would be good, but could always add on myself.

So what looks to be my best option (year and trim) for a restore? Any help is greatly apprececiated guys! Thanks in advance!!

Anyone know?

Its an '86 TPI auto T-top Black ext., black interior, gold rims and decals. I've googled black irocs and have not found any with black interior. Some with gold wheels but they were all tan interior. I really wanted a Blue one but I'm pretty picky about condition and all the Blue I found within my region of the U.S. were completely dogged out or $10K. I got this car for $1,300. The interior is about 9/10, body panels and or rust 8.5/10, weatherstripping 9/10. It runs like **** at an idle and will die from time to time. I plan on taking it to a mechanic hopefully they will figure it out. I flew in and drove it home(750 miles without breakdown). Miles is 99,000. Any ideas on what this would be worth after I repaint it and how rare it is?

This is a repeat post that i posted from the audio section and seeing if i find any help for this situation....if this thread is removed i understand i understand....

"okay i've already did a search here and i'm pretty confused from what's going on...

I own a 89 gta and i have decided to repair my power antenna mast since it was broken off a few years ago. (I disconnect the relay to prevent from the motor from continuously running and draining the battery.)

Here's my issue...
after reading several threads about what is the correct part number to get as the replacement, (aka pt# 22038195) I've discovered that this part number only works on vehicles for 82-88 models. However a couple of people mention that this part has also worked on a someone's '89 TTA and a 92 GTA...

The oem gm part number for 89-91 is 22072184 and i haven't been able to find the superseded number for this, nor can i find the part anywhere or even at my local dealership. They say the number is valid but that part has been discontinued. Under the search results i haven't been even able to find this part number as well)

i wish not to purchase the whole assembly (if it's even avaliable)
and the original part number for that complete unit is 22093964....

anywho if there's any help to clarify this i would extremely appreciate it...
I'm willing to spend the money that is needed to get the situation fixed as this is part of my restoration process...."

So I'm going through craigslist and come across what is said to be a 1990 firebird base model. It's a really nice car but has me puzzled in a few ways. First, the hood, engine, and spoiler are all indicative of the base model and the guy doesn't try to pawn it off as something else, but it has trans am ground effects. As far as I know, there was no option for base models to have these, so I'm assuming someone added them on. Also, the dash says "performance suspension" but I thought that this was only found in formulas. So I e-mailed the guy to ask if he added the ground effects and he gave me the runaround probably because I'm a girl, and tried to convince me that his car is "one of a kind" and that it "came that way that year and that's why it's special". I know that there was a limited production and that they are considered rare but I'm pretty sure that this guy is a lot of bull. Thoughts?

idk if this is the right place but it kinda seems to have to do with the camaro's history i guess...
Anyways i was just browsing and i came across this:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...d=171119221668

It kinda bothers me that GM is kinda changin the look of the camaro in a way. And let alone to an import/tuner look. And yes i realize its just a proposed design but still...i always thought of camaro's as more of a Bad@$$ car...not some car that some kids gonna turn into a r!cer  and now it seems GM is thinkin like those people...i hope this isnt too big of a deal just thought i'd get this out there and see what you guys thought...it kinda just bothers me inside a little bit...

It literally says in the description that they are going for a modern/tuner look...
