Hey, I have a 91 Chevy RCSB 350 TBI. I have a TBI nitrous kit I will be installing but would like to clear up a few things before. I have read the instructions but I still would like some opinions.

For the fuel supply, I dont really want to be drilling holes and such in my throttle body for the supply line as instructions state. Could I get a shrader valve off ebay that many guys install on the supply line to the TBI and T off that to the fuel solenoid.

Next would be my fuel system. I have hooker longtubes, 3 inch exhaust, tbi mods, msd ignition(coil,wires,6a box). I am wondering if maybe I should be installing an external fuel pressure regulator to up the pressure abit more for the nitrous. Also possibly putting in a TPI fuel pump. Would I be able to get away without these things or would it be highly suggested with the nitrous plans. Im looking at 75-100shot. I would also be looking at getting it tuned(by westers) to run good with the nitrous.

Other than these 2 questions I think I have everything figured out. If I could get some opions and suggestions that would be great. Even some pictures of where people have mounted there solenoids on TBI would be great as Im having fun trying to figure out where I want them.

Thanks

Hey all, im looking for everybody's best opinion on a power adder question for a 91 Z28 with the LB9 & 5-speed. I recently found this sweet-looking kit from ssautochrome:
http://www.ssautochrome.com/level.itml/icOid/1844

ive read some great reviews of this company's products and some simply god-awful reviews describing things like "disintegrated turbos". If that is the case, could i just order the headers/hardware/ect & then swap in different turbos? If so, which would be best?

Ive also looked into this kit from vortech. It looks pretty sano, but is obv more expensive:
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=106

i assume this kit would fit the 5.0 as well as the 5.7 engine? im just looking for members opinions cuz ive looked around on the web & this is obviously the place to go for ANYTHING to do with 3rd gen. lemme know what u all think!! :thanks:

Single turbo L98 Engine 1992 Camaro 500 Horsepower

So I bought an L98 complete motorswap from transamcreations the other day

and I got a set of ebay turbo manifolds for $250- but I only need one of them.

Im taking a shorty header and making a crossover under the oil pan to feed exhaust into the turbo manifold on the other side- which holds the T4 flange.

The turbo I have selected is the precision 6776, good for between 500-800horsepower.
The L98 engine has reasonable compression iirc for this application. It should handle about 12-15PSI reasonably well and net me the power goal of 450RWHP.

The 92 is down to 3600lbs thanks to hacksaw type removal, but im going to replace the doors and hood and fenders and bumper next should get around 3400 if I am lucky. My goal is to be around 350Z weight (3200-3400) with a driver and a spare tire and toolbox for my daily driving fanatics.

To help the engine breath the 92 has a custom comp cam 224/234 @ .050 hydraulic roller grind for the rev range of 3500-6500RPM, Where I expect this turbo to provide a solid 400~ft.lbs of torque to redline @ 8-12PSI of boost.

To mate this combination to the wheels I am using a 700R4 that I built myself using pro-built performance transmission rebuild kit, everything including the new stator and trans-go shift kit for accumulated shifts.

The converter is an EDGE racing 9.5" with 3200~stall. She should powerbrake right into boost and be a blast to drive.

of course nothing is complete without the right gears. Im going to start with a 3.42 and try different tire sizes to get a feel for how she grips on the asphalt we all drive on. If it seems a bit too laggy/doggy ill jump to 3.73s in a heartbeat.

Yes I am using the stock longblock with AFR 190 heads and some typical fel-pro gaskets. I dont for-see 400ft.lbs of torque being a problem especially with the high quality intercooler/tuning scenario I have planned and the natural medium compression of the L98.

la tee da

The 2jz-gte is designed for a vehicle 3800-4200lbs (aka it will power a thirdgen nicely)
This engine is an available option for thirdgen, or any camaro year.
A 2jz in a 2nd or 1st gen would even be nice.

The thirdgen is tied to the this engine the way it is tied to an LS-2. never came with it, but a nice optional drop in.
You wouldnt consider an LS-2vsthirdgen comparison to be non-thirdgen related?

Oh yeah, it wont last forever like that, the factory cast pistons will eventually crack at that power level after a year or so.
If you want it to last forever you just dial down the boost controller to 500Rear Wheel HP and leave it there.

Also, Did I mention if you blow the engine a new one is only about $1200?

I love V8 but wtf, why would i give up my 5-speed 500 horsepower 2800lb. car with its $1200 engine running on pump gas? Can you see why the dark side is so much lighter ? 3L = 150~ cubic inches btw
lol i forgot to mention the best part- 28 MPG and 18" of vacuum at idle.
You can't even compare an mkiv supra to a thirdgen fbody, entirely different decades and a used mkiv turbo costs atleast 4 times as much as a very nice thirdgen. Apples to oranges buddy, we're here because we like our cars, if you don't like em, you shouldn't be here.

edit: and Id really like to see how you managed to lose 400lbs on one of those.

Part I:

I come back now to fill the gaps of information: I came off like a troll the first time and I will now correct this situation efficiently and bring the informative side into play.

The reason I made that post is because I miss my thirdgen. I love the V8. The reason I dont drive one is not because I dont love it- I just can't afford it. let me explain.

This is my goal:
As much fuel economy as possible (as cheap as possible)
As much power as possible (as cheap as possible)
As reliable and easy to maintanance as possible (cheaply lol)

There, Im just a broke college student trying to afford his go-fast pump gas daily driver. Can anyone synonymize?

Now let me tell you what I think about a toyota supra:
heavy (4000~lbs) = bad fuel economy no matter what power plant (sub 25's even with an OEM engine) = not cheap
Very expensive to purchase an MKIV ($20,000+) = not cheap

These two items blow the car out of the water as a choice for me. YOUR RIGHT, it is a pig and cannot be compared easily to a thirdgen nor is it an appropriate choice for cheap people like me.

This is where I draw the line: The extensive performance capability of the supra is not due to the car's pig design- its in the engines performance capability.

Well im building my new motor

Its a late 80s truck block, 2 bolt main [going to splayed 4 bolt mains], .040 overbore
Eagle rotating assembly [all cast]
Mahle forged Pistons +16cc
Comp xfi268 camshaft
58cc aluminum L98 heads [going to port them, add bigger valves and other goodies]

I got the low compression pistons, so its basically dying for some sort of power adder, I was thinking about adding a single turbo, but am unsure which turbo to go with, I want something streetable.

If I need to run the motor without any boost, will my Compression Ratio be fine, or will it be too low?

I have a Big block TBI unit that I was planning on using, will that be good enough?

so im picking up another v6 car, and i want to do somethign a lil different on this one instead of another turbo car.

looking around on ebay it seems i can pickup a used supercharger headunit fairly cheap, i know of somone who used a p600b on a 3.8L v6 before. so i went and looked up the specs between the d1 and 600b.

besides the oil supply with the 600b vs the d1 being self contained which one would better be suited to a v6

ive never done a centrifical sc before.

but i do know that i would set the motor up close to my turbo motor specs
8.5-1 cr
272/272 cam on 112 or 114 lsa
ported heads/intake
would spin the motor just a touch over 7k again

i figure max boost of around 18-21 psi at redline
