Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here, so be gentle :) I'm contemplating a swap from a 730 $8D to a 7427 $0E. Is there an underhood PCM that will run $0E? One reason for this change is that I want to run a 4L80E so all of that hardware needs to exist....

Thanks!

So im tuning for the first time today. im using LM-1 WB to log and it also feeds the 02 voltage to my ecm using an output. When im at cruize its reading exactly 14.7 but my blms are like 120 .. Im not sure whats going on with that but i was wondering if i should adjust the output. here is how the output signal reads on the programmer.

1.099 Volt @ Lambda:.958 (so is this range sweet spot)?
0.103 Volt @ Lambda: 1.022 (and this the total operating range)?

It claims its factory set up for most factory 02 sensors!

But ive been tuning with it for about 3 hours now, and it feels amazing, what a difference this made. i never tuned for the new mild cam i put in but i feel it now. I whould like to thank everyone for there help!! i wouldnt be able to do this without the EFI bible located here on third gen!!!

P.S if your not using wide band, you dont know what your missing!

I sold my Corvette in the spring. And prior to that I had sold my thirdgen, however I carried the Ostrich, '749, etc over to the Corvette.

Now that that is all gone, I'm starting fresh. I'm in the process of putting together a '79 Z28. I have a 412 cubic inch engine I built. I have an XR288HR camshaft, on 110lsa, 106 centerline. Fairly aggressive.

I'm a little split on heads.. I mean, I'm going with AFR 195 either way however I can either go with a 65cc head, mill it to 60cc and run close to 11:1 compression.

Or I can go with the 75CC, polish the chambers a hair which would be around 9.4:1, and run 10psi of boost on a Vortech.

So either way, I'm going to break the motor in with a edelbrock 750cfm carb because I have one lying around.

Getting back to the land of EFI. There has been a lot of improvements over technology. I must say, I'm pretty much no longer interested in logging and editing VE tables. I don't mind tuning AE and PE, but to spend hours cruising around and fixing VE tables just to have my BLM off by 10+ points 3 days later is just.. I'm done with that.

I'm thinking EBL maybe, or maybe an another aftermarket option. I want something that with autotune my idle and part throttle AFR from a wideband feedback. I want to dial in 15:1 idle, 15:1 light cruise, 13.8:1 low-load cruise, etc. What is the best option?

Another thing.. MAP sensors. For the better part of the last 10 years I've been on the MAP bandwagon, but as my cams got more aggressive the lack of resolution made tuning MAP combos almost became near impossible. I'm starting to think an LSx style (or Ford) MAF is the better method. Especially for a big cam motor and blower, where idle might be damn near 90kpa.

Lastly - always a battle was injector size vs idle quality. I've had issues, even in open loop, trying to get idle reasonable and lean without hitting minimum pulsewidth thresholds but still being able to provide enough fuel for upper RPM.

I've also looked at Fast's new EZ-EFI, which seems cool but since it's a 4bbl TBI it's hp limitted. On some recent tests i've seen, its actually given up as much as 20hp to a 750 cfm carb.. If I go with a blower I'd be putting down over 600 to the flywheel.

Well, trashed your original post. Be nice if the boards were working correctly. Anyway, what follows is what I posted as a reply to your question about placing the SA into the ALDL stream of the '7747 ECM:

Neither one is correct. I believe that this info is listed in the Come in For a Free Tune thread.

In general the SA value can be placed in a single location. So the O2 crosscounts ALDL location is good for it. Then use the PromID for the injector PW.

I just now went ahead and finally soldered in my g2 adapter as well as programmed a chip with the ANLU bin file from moates.net and when I turn the key, the CEL blinks like mad. From what I had read, that was supposed to be something bad right? I thought I read that it could be from the program on the chip being messed up so I tried a different version and even th program that was running before (ANTT) and it's still blinking like crazy! What the hell did I **** up? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to try everything I can to fix this tonight so I can go to work tomorrow. thanks,

Ok.... I finally got all of my software / hardware working and actually made a prom that works!

I have an 85' TPI z28 w/ a T5 that I converted to 89' plenum, runners, fuel rail, and TB. I am now also running a '165 ecm. For the bin, I am using ANYX ('89 formula 305 w/ 5 spd) as my starting point. All I have changed is the fan 1 turn on temps, disabled EGR, and VATS.

When I first burned it, the fan was on constantly. Then I unchecked "cooling fan N/O req input" and the fan wont come on at all?

The fan would not turn on with the stock '87 memcal I was using before either (ABUN)

Am I missing something? Is it a problem that I still have the single fan setup that came in my '85 tpi?

This thing is running better than ever aside from this fan issue! Any help would be great

I am running full open loop, '165 ECM. Major mods to a HSR 383. Tune is really good when car is warm and has been shut off and restarted. WOT AFR's hang right around 12.2 to 12.7. Part throttle AFR's range from 13.8 to 15.2. All is well. But....

When I first start the car and warm it up, or when I restart it after it has sat for an hour or so, the AFR's stay about 2 full points too rich as seen on the wideband. Even if I let it run and drive it for an hour, the AFR's will stay way rich. It isn't a false reading, it will pop out the exhaust at WOT and plugs are BLACK if I drive it this way for quite a while. It is way rich during part throttle and WOT. So I pull over, shut car off, restart it, and the AFR's are then perfect. And they will stay fine no matter how long I drive or how many times I shut off and restart the car. Popping out exhaust is gone, wideband reads good, plug readings look good. Unless it sits long enough to cool down, then it will be rich again until I shut it off and restart it.

I've tried alot of things, different AFPR, relocated MAT to air intake tract, messed with a few things in the tune, etc.

What could be causing this? It's almost like there is a setting in the tune that tells it to keep it rich after a cold or cool start and don't let it lean out, then it resets on a hot restart. I haven't messed with any of the CCP settings in the tune, could that be causing this?

Well guys I'm digging deeper into tuning land and I'm having a few issues. I had another post earlier this week but I've got that situation worked out (thanks for all the help) so here's my next question. What exactly do these tables do and what should I do with my certain situation....

My settings
AE Delta MAP Quailifer 2.19 kpa
AE <TPS% Double MAP Threshold 10.20 tps%
AE >TPS% Double MAP AE 65.10 TPS%
AE Delta TPS% Threshold for AE 1.96 TPS%
AE IAC Opening Fuel 305.17 usec

Well now on to my problem. I've been tinkering with my AE RPM and CTS mulitiplier tables to try to fix a "moderate" acceleration issue. If I give it alittle gas the engine will go a touch rich but soon, as I keep going it will start to lean out to like 16.1. I'm thinking my TPS AE might be ok but as the MAP AE catches up it leans out. What should I do to go about fixing this? The car feels like an absolute dog right now. It was fine when it was 100 degrees outside but now as it has gotten done to the 40's and 50's it runs like a turd. I only run in open loop so anything closed is out of the question just for alittle fyi.

Some help with this would be awesome.
