So I want to run a single plane manifold, because I think that will result in better, more even fueling of the engine. Trouble is that all the single plane manifolds on the market have runners that are way to big for what I want to do (~300hp).

So I'm thinking of getting something like a Edelbrock Performer EPS manifold and cutting out the center divider. I understand that this will results in reduced throttle crispness down low, but I think it will gain power up top and have even fuel distribution. I think the small runners will also keep the port velocity good.

Has anyone done this before and what are your thoughts on the matter?

Just replaced the stock fuel pump with a higher volume pump. I used the pump in this link.
http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/tb...fuel-pump.html

What a difference in drivability! Granted my old pump was only pumping 7.5 psi and the new is at 11.5 plus the potential additional volume.

I spent the time to drop the exhaust, rear-end, and tank to do the job the right way (4.5 hours). This project proved to be WAY easier than I would have thought using a floor jack, jack stands, and hand tools (for the most part)! So any one else thinking about doing their pump themselves by dropping the tank I highly recommend doing so.

Thanks for this board and the help I received,
Jono

I am thinking its ac, but what is it really? I am about to clean the insides and go get another plastic peice from a local junk yard to get it fixed.

Hello all, I am fresh meat around here and I would like to get an opinion or two. I own a set of the 416 heads and after searching around here know what needs to be done to make them a decent head. Everyone seems to say they are a god "carb" head, after being reworked are they ok on a tbi also? I have the boat anchor of an lo3 in a 91 bird and am thinking of having the heads done and using a Torker II carb intake with an adapter to keep the tbi. I already own all of these parts and just looking to utilize the parts i own to up the performance of what i have. I know there are better ways of going about this but 3 mouths on 1 paycheck plus diapers doesnt leave a lot of room for all the nice stuff like vortec heads and such. I also have a y pipe off of a tpi trans am, which is much larger than the y pipe on my car now, and a dynomax cat-back system waiting to be installed. Thanks for any opinions, advice, or thoughts

If you dont feel like reading a ton skip to the 2nd paragraph.
Well its not a 3rd gen but it is a chevy tbi 305 but its in a truck. Ive been having all kinds of problems with the fuel pump. Like the wires coming undone and the hose falling off. Its an internal pump and Ive dropped the tank like 7 times and every time i fixed the problem either the wires came undone or the hose from the fuel pump came off the steel line again. I think it has something to do with the pump moving around so much when im punching the throttle or slamming the breaks.

Im so tired of the in tank fuel pump that i am thinking about getting an external in line fuel pump. Can i use my stock gas tank. How would i go about running the lines. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
