Okay I'm not exactly a noob. I rebuilt this tranny and it worked awesome until my rear axle broke and seized the driveline and burned my clutches up in the transmission. When i tore the tranny down I inspected everything and replaced the burned, almost gone, 1-2 clutches. Everythings in and I have no drive gears but reverse works great. Thought it was the boost valve so I dropped the pan and it pushes up 1/8" and stops behind the snap ring. Put everything back together and same problem, no drive gears but revese work. Fluid good, converter was filled when installed, filter is up in there right, TV cable adjusted ok and everything I could think of was ok. Please let me know if you have any other things it might be. I will pay you $25 if your advice fixes it. Paypal.

I have an 84 z28 with a 420hp 355ci and T5 trans. I have read that the factory shifters weren't all that great, and that it would be a good idea to put in an aftermarket one.

Anyone have any good luck with any particular make/models?

Thanks!

I recently bought a 350 turbo with a 2500 stall and shift kit. I currently have a 700r4 in my 1985 z28 with a new 355 motor. Just curious before i make the swap if I have to buy anything new for example a torque arm bracket or a torque arm. I also have a new b&m console shifter and from what i have read the shifter will work with a turbo 350. So in simple terms what am I going to need to make the swap, what doesn't exactly match up switching transmissions.

My hydraulic line is broken, Is it true that you can't get a replacement without getting the master and slave cylinder with it? I certainly hope not, i just bought a new slave cylinder and i really dont need another one. I just need the line, If i have to go through Russell, is AN-3 line big enough?

Also what length is ideal for best performance, or does anyone know what the length of the original stock line was? thanks

My trans in my wifes 86 TA was just replaced by a truck 700R and i put a small stall in it. It was holding 1st till you wanted it to shift if you manually held it down, but now it just shifts like it is in drive. Was working like it was supposed to and now it kind of sucks not to be able to make it work right.

Damn thing would slip going into the next gear but that is what i would expect from a used 700 behind a fresh 355 with vortec heads and a cam.

Any ideas? I have the stock trans i want to have built eventually and use a corvette valve body if possible to make it shift to WOT 4th gear.

well i was driving along in 5th, i down shifted to 4th and it felt strange so down shifted into 3rd and it got stuck there.

i was told that maybe it was a synchro that busted loose and got jammed in there. so i am going to take my consul apart so i can take a better look at the trany.

but i want to start looking for a new transmission too. the trany has to come out if i rebuild the one i have or if replace it so im thinking of replacing it.

so finally to my question what is the stock 5 speed manual trany from a 84 camaro v8 and is there any other transmissions that will bolt into place without modifying other things. or was the same transmission used in other cars.

also will a stock transmission work with a 350 that i may swap in later.

hello all. new member here and i just bought my first f-body. well actually im going to pick it up saturday.

it's an '82 trans am with the lg4 with auto and im not sure what transmission is in it. the car runs and drives but i have a couple questions on the transmission.

the tranny has no second gear. when driving the car in order to get it into third gear you have to let off the gas and it goes into third with no problem and no slipping at all. the guy im buying it from said he took off the quadrajet and put an edelbrock carb on it. do the autos in the car have a vacuum modulator on them to cause this and it wasn't hooked up after switching carbs? he didn't say it started when he swapped carbs.

also if it does indeed need a rebuild im not afraid to try it cause i have all winter to get it done.
