I need advice on which subframe connectors to purchase and which ones to avoid. I am new to the 3rd gen camaro world and there is much more selection that I am used to :)

Investigating, it seems SummitRacing sells connectors from as low as $99 up to $250. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CEE-3046/

Spohn connectors run at $199
http://www.spohn.net/shop/1982-1992-...me-Connectors/

I will be welding them to the frame (even if they are bolt-on style). So what is the real difference? Or is it just brand name vs generic? Can I get a recommendation of what to look for and what to avoid?

well, my winter project is to tackle the rust on the car and redo all of the stock-old undercoating underneath. i began by pulling up the carpet, after taking out the seats, center console, radio, moving wires, etc. i looked around online, carpets for the pass cabin go for under $200, so i think i'll scrap this 23 year old carpet for a new one...
looking at the floor pans i noticed that everywhere is rust free in the car, EXCEPT THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOORPAN AND KICK PANEL AREA. damn. i knew i had to attack it now before it spreads.

Perhaps I should have put this in the engine section but im posting it here based on what I have heard. When i shift my car from park to drive or reverse i get a loud violent knocking along with the car jolting heavily, in newer cars I know you have to have your foot on the break to shift out of park but with my 85 TA I don't, and if I shift without my foot on the break it engage hard enough to chirp the tires and the car will jolt forward, anyways I was told it could be the torque bar in the rear end of the car or the torque bar running down the car allong the driveshaft, it dosnt look like there is anything visualy wrong with them. To be honest its like shifting out of park when your RPM's are too high, my engine idles at roughly 750-850 RPM.

If someone could give me some more insight on this it would be great

Ladder Bar Converted to 3 or 4 Link?

I already have a ladder bar car currently. The suspension was done over 15 years ago when cars had to make the choice of being all out drag or other. But now I want it to be streetable, so am considering some enhancements. This is my first car so the sentimental value rules out starting over with another car.

For now, i think that I will leave the ladders in and change the front mount to accommodate a Spohn Del-Sphere. But later, could I use the ladder bar links to connect a LCA and then either some version of a torque arm or four link? The concern I have is that the ladder links are closer to the pumpkin. Would having much longer LCAs mounted closer to the pumpkin be good or bad? I have a 9" rear right now, so it would be more work to use the stock LCA locations, but not impossible.

I have lots to do before this, but I just wanted to get my thought down on cyber paper.

Played sick from work so I can have my rear Bilsteins installed. Went to a local shop and had them do it. They showed me the old shocks. They were the original ones that were installed with the car back when they built it. Once I got my car on the road, what a major difference! Not only because the old shocks were junk but the ride is absolutly perfect. No problems with feeling every crack on the road and awesome cornering. Then again, I have the Ronal R15 wheels on.

I was wondering if air bags can be used universally on certain cars, because our cars have a lot of room that looks like you can just bolt up any bags to the suspension wire it up and it will work. I have a friend who has a kit that complete with bags wiring switches and tank that came off a 70 mustang but were not made for a 70 mustang, made for something like a civic or jetta he beieves. The brackets attached to 2 of the bags closely resemble the strut part of front shocks ( I have a 91 camaro ) and the rear looks pretty simple does anyone have any information, do you think it could be done.

the 92 camaro rs we have has the original suspension, everything on it is from the factory and it rides rough. i know they are supposed to ride like bricks but there is quite a bit of play in the steering and over bumps and railroad tracks it doesnt feel very solid. it has 130k miles on it and we are pretty sure its had at least one teenage owner before we got it. it was pretty poorly mantained so were wondering what you would all recommend should be done to make this car ride like new again?

I have a 86 Iroc that sits very low to the ground. I had it up on the rack yesterday and realized something most people dont think about when lowering a car. Limiting straps! Most of the time these are used on 4wheelers so they dont over extend expensive shocks on thier rig. Well with my camaro lifted by the frame, the rear axle drops so far the the rear springs practically fall out! While its not often, on occasion havin to back out of a steep driveway at an angle I lift a rear wheel, never thought anything of it untill I realized what happens to the springs!

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on installing limiting straps to a lowered thirdgen?

i just repalced my front struts, springs, strut mounts and ball joints... guess what i forgot..... the front control arm bushings!!!!! so naturally, guess what i don't want to do again?

so, is there a way (a semi-safe way) to remove the rear of the control arm to replace the bushings without having to go through the process again of removing the spindle, springs, struts???

any ideas?
i thought of supporting the arm with a jack and lowering slowly to remove bushing but concerned about the spring having to much force to keep it steady...

also, when i do it, i'm torn between rubber or poly... i want decent handling but a comfortable ride with minimal bumpiness... it is an 89 iroc, moog 5662 (stock spring), kyb gr-2 struts/mounts, poly sway buskings and end links, poly trans mount, spohn ball joints. i am about to also get the spohn front end kit (tie rods, idler, center link). what are thounghts on bushing type for application? if heard good/bad both ways...

I am getting ready to upgrade my power steering and my question is in relation to the pump. I have a 600 series box which is much smaller and lighter than the 800 series box...it also has much better internals as well. In addition I will use a March power steering pulley along with a new flaming River shaft.

Does the GM Type II pump that is used on the LT1's work on our application? What I mean is will that pump and reservoir fit onto our bracket assembly in the stock location?

That is the last piece I want to upgrade before putting it all together.
