I think I am running way slow here, just wanted to know if you guys think it is all to blame on wheelspin, gearing, or a poor tune. Here we go:

385ci 87+ Gen1 SBC:
4.04"x3.75"
.005" in the hole
.036-.038 quench (I can't recall specifically)
9.5:1 CR
2.02/1.6
smoothed chambers
deburred/gasket matched runners
5-angle valve job
smoothed valve guides
bowl blending
short turn work

Comp Cams Customer hyd-roller:
Lobes are XFI I#3015/E#3016 (yes, both are intake profiles)
274/280 @.006, 224/230 @.050, .544/.540 gross lift.
It think it was ground on a 113 LSA

Holley 750 VS
Performer RPM clone

Hedman 1 5/8 shorties
3" American Thunder catback (w/ 3" hiflow cat)

HEI w/ 50,000v coil
MSD 6a
8.8mm wires

Built up 700r4 w/ 2400 TCI stall
B&W 9-bolt w/ 3.23s (3.70s sitting in my room for the spring).

I think I had installed the cam 4 degrees retarded, as my powerband seems to be 2500-6500. Depending on how she feels with the 3.70s I am thinking about advancing it back up 4 degrees next year, but since I have traction issues as it is I'm not sure yet. I still have the stock rims and tire-size, running Potenza RE750s, I'm paranoid about running bigger tires and blowing the 9-bolt. I also noticed that my converter seems to actually be stalling closer to 3000 RPMs, which I am guessing is due to the crap 3.23s (thoughts?)

At the track I had almost no traction through most of 1st, spun for a few tire revs into second and barked into third. I've only gotten two runs in on this motor/trans and didn't pay attention to my RPM at the finish line, but it was probably early-midway through 3rd.

Best run was:

RT: 0.2575
60ft: 2.1225
330ft: 5.7646
594ft: 8.2078
1/8th: 8.7495@83.06
1000ft: 11.3470
1/4ft: 13.5576@101.72

Hey guys I thought I'd share a couple races I had last weekend. I had a bit of fun and did alittle better than I thought. Every Saturday the local kids go out to s deserted road out here for alittle racing and originally I was just going to spectate but I got talked into a couple races just for the hell of it. My first race was my friend Alex's Infiniti G35 coupe (basically a 300z with more bells and whistles). From what I understand all he really has are Nitto DR's like myself CAI and exhaust. Here's a pic of the car. All my mods are in my sig plus I'm still working on my tune but I had it close enough for that night.

Well we line up after he does a John Force burnout and All I did was just dust off the tires. lol I stall up to about 2000 and I hear him bouncing off his limiter (DO all R i c ers do that?) and we're off. I instantly get about a 2 car lead and pretty much pull about a car more on him. By about the end of our run I had around the same to about a 3 1/2 car win over him. He then says he wants to run again because he thinks he can do better so I say "sure, why not" We get back to the starting line and again his impression of J.F. is outstanding and as always I just pull up and stall her up a bit,lol We take off again and this time I guess he gets alittle over zealous with the shifting because I here him grind third twice before I begin to pull 4 on him. Still, a win is a win.

The next run was quite a surprise for me because I thought for sure I was heading for a butt whoppin but I did alot better than I thought. My friend Robert, just recently purchessed a new 2009 Cobalt SS turbo, It's a nice little car but ever since he got it he's been acting like the king **** at the local hangout. So he comes up to me after my races with Alex and asks me if I'd like to run him. I said yeah, I then told him that he's going to play hell beating me out of the hole because of my Nitto's but like an *** he tells me that it doesn't matter that he going to stomp my *** anyway. I'd show you a pic but he doesn't have one on his Myspace page. Black with grey wheels. This isn't his car but it looks exactly like this one.

Anyhow we line up after heating up the tires abit. (I figured I better get them alittle warm this time) I stall up to about 2000 again and ofcourse I hear him using his engine like a trampoline and we're off. I immediately pull about a six car lead on him from a dig, I guess he spun a bit and I hold about a 7 car lead for a good part of the race. I guess his boost kicked in and he started to reel me in SLOWLY by the end off our litte run I had about a 2 car win over him. When we all get back to the hangout amazingly he was quite humble over his loss and said "for a 305 that little bastard has some balls" and all was cool. Sorry so long but I thought I should share since it's been a while. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did,lol

So My Uncle's son inlaw recently Bought this C5 Corvette. I rode in this car and it is scary fast. It is Definetly a 200mph + car. It really made me think of if a third gen can get close to that kind of speed and power.
Its Stats/mods
-LS6 Swap
-T56
-AFR Heads
-FAST Intake
-Solid Roller Cam of unknown lift and Duration
-Stainless Steel Headers
-Catalytic Converter Delete
-Professionally Tuned
-ZR1 wheels
-Cross drilled and slotted Rotors

My Question Is how many Third Gens on here can beat this Beast in a street race from a standing start? I'm Interested in seeing what kind of speed we have on this Forum.:burnout:

A friend told me I could pick up half a second or better going to a good pair of long tubes and 3" duals and bullets. My question is could that really get me 12.0's Current set up is 450 h.p. 383, turbo 400 3500 tci stall, 9" with 4.11's 60'-1.70, 330'-5.21, 1/8-8.11,84 mph, 1000-10.63, 1/4-12.79 @102.9 mph. have had a few 12.60' on cold nights. Thanks

Serious Questions... PLEASE be Unbiased. ( I didnt know where to put this I really didnt want a comparison but didnt see a "General Question" section)

Hey all hows it going, First post! Anyways My name is kacy, im from Wilmington NC, I search local forums alot and I came across this Camaro and I fell in love now im interested in getting 1.

Screamin85Z is his name on the local forums :P But I love his car!

Now lemme get to it!

How well does the 350 3rd gen stack up to a foxbody mod for mod? I am trying to do my homework so I dont jump on the wrong car and kick myself in the *** yet again.... I know NOTHING about 3rd gens. Im a mustang guy sorry lol.

What is the most power the stock bottom end can hold?

Was the 700r4 the only transmission available? What is its power cap?

I know mustangs have the most after market for them but are Third gens the same? can I find multiple different superchargers or turbo kits with tested and proven review?

I know there is a million different ways this could turn out... but please let me know some unbiased opinions... I really want to get an Iroc and give this a shot but might just get another foxbody because I know they are proven.

My cousin owns a foxbody that has my old engine lol, and I really wanna bust his *** with a Camaro so help me out with as much info as you can.

Heres my fox I sold. and regret :(.

New 2009-2010 BMW 335 this time! To try to make this quick basically i was just driving and some fag in some POS Mazda MX6 tried to run me so i stomped him in first gear and let off. Then i see this car come flying up behind me and i was like "WTF is that?" So then he proceeded to fly past me through town (sounded like he had exhaust work done) and then slow down way out of town so i waited until i was out of town and picked it up to around 100mph to catch up... i slow down to about 70 and put her in fourth gear when i'm beside him.. i push the throttle down a little to show him i want to run and we both pin it at the same time... We run side by side for a minute and i slowly start reeling him in and by the time we were done i had about a good length or two on him.(closest race i've ever had) But we raced like that a couple times at different speeds and i had him everytime. So i slow down after one run b/c there was a car and he flys by the car, i drive like normal and catch up to him and he's got his hand out the window with a big thumbs up! So i roll down the window and ask what it was and he says a new 335 (BWM). I tell him its a nice car and then i turn off. Nice guy, had a good looking G/F too! lol:lmao:

Well way back when i bought my first car i bought 86 305 TBI for 600 dollars, with 230,000 miles. I fixed it up and made it look good, but it ran extremly slow which id expect with all those miles. I didnt really know the full potential of the car. I traded that camaro for a 93 blazer with a 4.3l v6 with some bolt ons and a cam. Where i live ive beat everyone up to 80 aside from a few camaros, stangs, and corvettes. But driveing this blazer i dont feel right, i honestly prefer that beat up camaro.. My long time friend bought a 5.0 mustang in pretty darn good condition for 1800 dollars it just needs a little TLC.

When i saw his car i knew i had to put my ole blazer up for sale and get another camaro, im still in the process of doing that. I'd kill for an iroc z, every since i was 9 years old seeing a black one that sounded amazing infront of autozone its been my dream car since then. I'll get about 3 grand from the blazer, and im saveing up money from the job i got. I want to buy a pretty much stock camaro that i can modify to my own likeing. It seems finding a 350 is going to be very hard, they seem to be getting rarer and rarer. So it looks like ill end up with a 305. Everyone said TBI is crap and i should go to TPI. My blazer is TBI and im not haveing any trouble with it although im not a huge engine wiz, i just know my basics.

So looking as ill probably end up with a 305 what do you guys think i should look for? What are the primary first cheaper mods i should throw on it in order to keep up with this mustang? I honestly dont care if i beat him in the long run starting off i just want to keep up with him. I'll have to stick with the 305 for awhile but later on down the road im going to buy a wrecked LS1 and throw that engine in it, also the interior will go in as well. I saw the long thread about the 5.0 vs. 350 and it looks like its going to be a pain getting the 305 to just go as fast as the 5.0.

So if you could, tell me in order what you would do to a stock 305 with prices. And tell me the reality of how hard it will be to find a 350 thats decent in the 4000 dollar range.

Thank you!

Just curious to see what a stock L98 car is capable of with a t56 swapped in. Can they hit 13.9 or faster and how much did the traps increase?
