I am in the process of smoothing mine. I cut out a panel to cover the holes. I will be using structural adhiesive to attach it (rather than welding). Then I will use Rage body filler to smooth out the rough edges. I have attached pictures.

i actually did mine in 2 peices, one for the actual firewall and one for the cowl part. both peices were cut out of 16 gauge sheet metal and done on a cnc plasma.

Yeah either that or he has a gas tank hidden behind his firewall.
We need to stop putting warning stickers on happy meal toys! Were eliminating natural selection and thats why we end up with things like this!!!

A lot of imports run their fuel lines under the carpet inside the car... I'm mot sure what the rules are tech wise but stock usually flies, so there are at least a ton of fastish subarus and a few others with fuel lines under the driver's seat carpeting...

I don't care if it is the way some automakers do it from the factory,fuel lines/cells/tanks,or ANYTHING as volatile as gasoline should not be in the passenger compartment.

Sorry CoolTC, but i gotta agree with Irockz on this one. Im not one to flame people for no reason, but you gotta admit that running a flammable/explosive substance in an enclosed passenger compartment is just begging for trouble. It may not even be the fault of the car, what happens when some less than gearhead (ie- GIRLFRIEND) steps on it a couple times while entering/exiting the car? Then next thing you know you have a small gas leak, which at very best will ruin your carpet provided no one lights a cigarette. It is illegal for ANY car at ANY sanctioned track to have fuel lines of any sort inside the engine compartment. Two reasons; first of which is the obvious. You don't want the fuel in the compartment in case of a fire. Try to keep the fire outside and away from the occupants. Second is applied to in-car batteries as well and has to do with fumes. You don't want to run the risk of having any kind of dangerous or flamable fumes inside the car. Same reason you must use a sealed and vented battery box.
THe fact that this guy has run the fuel lines through the inside of the car qualifies as an idiot. And yes, he 'should' have been weeded out of the gene pool through natural selection. Maybe there was alcohol involved on the night of his conception
