Re: How wide is a 3rd gen axel?

3rd gen = ~ 61¼"
4th gen = ~ 64¾"

Getting the 8½" 10-bolt in there is DEFINITELY going to require a certain amount of fab work.

Re: How wide is a 3rd gen axel?

2nd gen camaros apparently have the right width 8.5" 10 bolt, if that's what you've got?
Other 8.5" 10 bolts... anyones guess, but let us know what you've got it from, and if it'll work.
Welding the tubes for LCA's, panhard, shock, and springs are fairly straightforward. Welding the pumpkin (cast iron) for the TA is what makes most people shudder

I have 2 8.5" rears. one out of a 01 s10 zr2 witch is about 64" wide and has disc brakes. And i have one out of our 70' camaro with 3.73s and moser axles but im not exactlu sure how wide it is. And im a welder for a living I think i could tig weld the TQ arm mount to the pumpkin using nickel rod. Thats the best stuff to use on cast iorn. But i think i wanna use the s10 rear end because it is almost as wide as the 4th gen rear and i wanna run my ZR1 wheels.
