Really? This post appeared like 1-2 days after I made my post suggesting it to someone on here who could'nt figure out a way to mount their plate without making ugly holes. Oh well, from the looks of this post, Im not the only one to have come up with that idea anyway. It is the best way to mount the plate on most vehicles, imo.
Off subject, I may be getting a 4th gen. wing here shortly(if I can work the deal) so I may be PM'ing you for some info on that but we will have to see if the deal goes through first. I also have a couple other questions about your car but I'll wait and see about this wing and send all my questions at once.
Yes...Really!
On a 4th gen wing....GET ONE FROM A LT1 CAR, NOT A LS1 CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
My buddys fits great, the pedestals sit flat. I believe 93-97 is the key. My 2001.....On the pedestals, the fronts sit up and lean outwards. I'm actually considering finding a different/earlier one. Even the wing ends "lean".

Well, the one I was looking to get was off a '96(LT1 car) but the deal may be slipping through my fingers as we speak. If I get it, I'm sure I'll be PM'ing you with questions.
In chicago the secretary of state said on some radio talk show that one of the reason's for the front plat was its use fullness in hit and runs cause the plat sometimes falls off and is left at the scene of the crime. Personally I think it looks ugly on any car or truck.
hopefully the front drag/wind doesnt smash the bolt ends into the paint.
Been 1 month & 1 day, no marks on my nose from the wind pushing.
They are 1/8" aluminum, not just flimsy sheet metal. I can't even physically push it back far eough to make contact. The metal brackets won't even bend with that enough.
Radar isn’t, Laser is. They specifically look for a flat, shiny surface to bounce it off of, there are actual sights on the gun and front plates are a favorite target. On something like my 4th gen TA you can get within a fraction of the distance that a 'normal' car can and still not get a clean signal off of it with the headlights down and the plate off because there isn't a real flat surface perpendicular to the direction of the laser on it.
yeah i've done alot of research on radar detectors and consiquently on radar and laser guns and none of them are "pinpoint" they emit something that would visually be seen as a cone (no im not saying u can see it). Anyway i remember reading that one of those laser ones would cover an area of a highway in which either 2 or 3 cars would reasonably fit while driving (so something like 50 yds?) from a distance that wasnt really that far. Although i don't rem everything from the article it was a pretty good one and i think everyone should try and read up on the stupid things.

Front plates cost the state alot of money to produce--and in the end cost the tax payers untold amount of money. Its a rubbish law that needs to go away.
some states here in the u.s. dont require one...like Pennsylvania doesnt and new york doesnt either...right now its up in the air if NJ needs one too, theres a law thats being looked over to see if they can do away with the front plates, but chances are, they'll just keep them lol more money goes to the DMV and more money to the state, thats all they care about lol
New York requires a front plate. My budy just put a custom bracket on his cobalt SS with aftermarket front fascia because of multiple pull-over warnings.
OK, BACK TO THE FRONT BRACKETS. TRY REGULAR OLE SHELF BRACKETS. THEY COME IN DIFFERENT COLORS. BEND TO DESIRED ANGLE AS NEEDED. USE BOLTS ON THE TOP OF THE PLATES (I USED 10-24x3/8, WITH WASHERS), THAT'S ALL YOU NEED. DRILL THRU THE BOTTOM OF THE GROUND EFFECTS OR BUMPER, WHATEVER. BOLT IT IN TWO PLACES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET AND YOU'RE DONE. VERY STIFF STRUCTURE, NO WORRIES ABOUT WIND PUSHING INTO BUMPER. LOOKS VERY PROFESSIONAL. REMOVE TWO TOP BOLTS/PLATE IF YOU REALLY WANT TO CLEAN BEHIND IT.
DON'T HAVE PICS YET, BUT I JUST DID TO MY BIRD AND SATURN COUPE. WHOLE JOB COST ABOUT 6 BUCKS AND TOOK 2 HOURS BOTH CARS INCLUDING MEASURING.
Yes, but my method required no new holes to be drilled. I used 2 existing bolts, to hold the brackets on.
I wouldn't exactly call home shelf brackets "professional looking"....Besides, those have that shaped piece in the bend for extra stiffness, which would push the brackets out almost an inch.
IT IS PROFESSIONAL. YOU DON'T SEE ANY OF THE BRACKET AND EVEN WITH THE ELBOW FILET (WHICH IS 1/2", BTW), IT'S TIGHTER IN THAN YOUR PHOTO, AND NO FLEX.
NO HOLES ON 83 DAYTONA GROUND EFFECTS. ALSO, IF YOU ONLY USE ONE BOLT EA SIDE ON THE BOTTOM YOU'LL EVENTUALLY SET THE THING VIBRATING AT RESONANCE WITH WIND SPEED.
1/8 " AL IS A BIT OVERKILL, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU LIKE THE ROUGH EDGES.
First off...Take your attitude to the curb. That kind of stuff isn't put up with here. I said nothing negative about your shelf brackets.
The aluminum is what I had laying around, so it was free.
I've checked the bolts. They haven't loosened any, so I'm not worried about it falling off.
Another thing, which I ignored in your first post......Typing in all caps is viewed as yelling, in text. Try typing in lower case and capitalizing as needed.

WELL, STEPHEN, I TOOK OFFENSE TO YOUR COMMENT. MAYBE YOUR ATTITUDE NEEDS THE CURB-KICK. THIS IS A KNOWLEDGE SHARING POST. I POSTED WHAT I HAD DONE QUITE OBJECTIVELY, WITHOUT CRITICIZING OR CHALLENGING ANYONE ELSES COMMENTS, NOR SOLICITING ANY. YOU HOWEVER FAILED TO DO THE SAME (LIKEWISE NOTED ELSEWHERE IN YOUR POSTS. SEEMS YOUR'S IS THE ONLY OPINION THAT COUNTS.
Your second post ever & you start your TGO life off by offending somebody. Not a very good start. Nowhere in my 4,000 + posts do I reject others opinions.
You mentioned drilling hole in your nose...Mine mount with ZERO new bolts, require no new holes to be drilled. Nothing.
As for yours being closer...Show us a pic of yours. And how it mounts. Mine is just past the bend, maybe 1/4" from the front of the nose to the LP. The reinforcing bends in your shelf brackets have to make it stick out farther, to clear the bends. A professional would make something that FITS, not simply use generic shelf brackets. Yes, I could pull them off, bend the brackets more & angle the plate back, but It doesn't bother me enough to do so.
Besides...It's only temporary until I finish the flip-up, hidden license plate holder.
Firebirds don't have it as easy as Camaros. Ours will hafta slide forward then flip up.
James Bond style plate holder FTW. If I had a Camaro, i'd buy that, but I don't.
Stephen, I might have to copy your idea when I finally repaint my car and replace the front bumper cover. I'm not drilling holes in it! Stupid IL laws.
I think the reason the police want front license plates is so they can run your number on their computer without having to get behind you. (checking for warrents ect) Like in parking lots and at slower speeds around town.
There was a fight in the Arizona state legislature years ago where for a couple of months we needed to run the front plates and I got the ticket for my '69 GTO but then they repealed the law... (I still had to pay the $45)
Jersey is too rigid and will probably always require the front plate. I don't agree with it at all.

this what a friend of mine just ordered for his 2011 GT500 Cobra( I know, evil word) but I liked the holder anyway and asked because Texas requires it and I am sick of mine sitting on my dashboard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz9Q-sjtJsU
this is available from www.ninosport.com for $60

Yep that one is awesome! I will probably be getting one similar to this within the next couple weeks or so, because I'm painting my bird as we speak. I don't want an ugly plate screwing up the overall look of the car.

Also P.S. the motorized one is for $130 not $60 just so you know. The $60 one is manual operation. Which in my mind is great for people who just want to hide it for shows/pics, but I'm more wanting one for hiding them from the law!! You can't exactly get away with it as easily with a manual one...
