I want to make my Ram Air II hood some what usable. I know it wont be a completely "functional" ram air. but it is not as quite as restrictive as the stock one I have. so my question is that can i use this with my hood and make it work? and is there a possible way I can make a "homemade" version of this because $200+ is alot of money for a little box. And my last question is: How would i use the stock MAF sensor on this? I have searched alot on the boards but i cant find exactly what i am looking for, I already know there is a ram air tech page that is located here: http://www.thirdgen.org/ramair but that specific type is not what i am shooting for. dont wanna so i posted here.

I honestly would start at the junkyard and look at many cars as possible for their air boxes and go from there. That way you know there is a specific air filter size and housing. and just go from there...
Mods so far: MSD Cap and rotor, MSD ignition coil, Accel 8.8mm ignition wires, Hooker Super Comp Shortie Headers, Flowmaster 3in catback, underdrive crank pulley, custom cold air intake, NOS wet 125 shot, air foil and a lead foot! no E/T's yet. ...TURBO COMING SOON...Other mods include keyless entry and remote start, and Sequential Turn Signals.
I have the total air-ram hood and air box on my 89 Formula, it fits with a couple thing needed. I had to grind allitle off one side of my MAS just so it would fit inside of the air box and cut alittle off the airbox. Took me 10 minutes. Also you have to extend the wires for the new location of the MAS. As far as someone saying you need a bracket to hold the MAS up, mine is tight enough that I didn't need to. If you go this route make sure you use something like silocone to seal your MAS to the airbox. You can also goto www.ramairhood.com and see picutres and they have the direction for the installation and also sell the air box too.
Your '89 intake ducts are not quite as bad as the earlier Firebird TPI intakes. If you still have the inside-out (garbage can) air cleaner, you can open the bottom for better inlet flow.

Any idea where I can get this? I was thinking this would be a good place to smooth out the air flow into the engine on my TPI car. The stock corrugated rubber looks like it would disturb airflow too much.

I contacted www.eautotuning.com. They have them for $6 plus shipping. It's a company that sells a cold air kit for our cars but will sell just the coupler.
