Heres some pictures of the Ed Quay full body width spoiler I put on the car this weekend, the package is delivered in a wood box lined with cardboard & peanuts. It arrived 2 days after I ordered, all of the need items were included and the fit is beyond expectations !

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
Next on the list was the parachute shroud mount from which I made a template from the stock bumper. I used 1/8 6x6 plates and 1 5/8 mild tubing to get a cross bar, added a snub for the 1 1/2 slide in tether mount and braced with some 1 inch mild, all to fit behind the factory bumper cover.
As you can see the f body is not a true square frame, one side longer than the other

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
Installing the wing just requires drilling alot of holes and assembling about 1000 6/32 nuts and nylocks, arthritis is the word that came to mind
This fit is unreal!!

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
next came the struts and finalizing the bumper, then onto the chute mount!
the chute mount is c/m and is 1/2 tube, I welded some larger tube to the hatch key area and some jack bolts to the bumper to accept the larger tube with 1/4 20 welded into the, I wanted the pack and mount removable since I have a open trailer.

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
I ended up getting a stroud chute and have to get the cable and deployment handle installed as of now but it should be easy compared to this 12 hrs of thrashing! End results

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
that looks great.
the only thing that really gets me is why didnt ed build the wing with a lil extension on the side to use the bottom hole for the stock spolier. if the side plates were made just a lil different, it could save the customer aggrevation of having a hole there or having to spend cash on body and paint work.
thats the best pics ive seen of that wing, and it changed my mind on it after seeing these pics.
the one on the website makes it look horrible and too wide for the car.
thanks for the pics!

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
I love the look of the Ed Quay wing. I don't know how well one would fit on my car. I don't have a factory deck lid. Mine is just a sheet of aluminum. My factory spoiler seems to be doing fine bolted to it. My car still goes straight at 144 mph. If I installed one of those wings, I'd have to redo my chute bag mount by moving it back a lot more to get it out from under the wing.
I've seen wings on slower cars. Don't know how functional they would have been. A third gen body already acts like a huge wing providing downforce on the whole car. When you look at older cars like a mid 60's Nova, it's a box. Local racer has an early Nova with a wing like that and it only runs low 12's. It also still has 4 wheel drum brakes and he uses the whole length of the track to slow down.
At least with a nice wing like that, it looks like it can go fast. Other than my car is tubbed out and has a full cage, it doesn't look like it can go as fast as it does. Add on a wing like that and people expect it to go fast. Don't forget to put on that mountain motor prostock scoop that sticks up above the roof line.

I was thinking more of the chrome fire extinguisher mounted on the passengers' a-pillar; that way if you do need it you have no chance of getting to it....

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
Thanks for the compliments guys! " if you have one it better be fast", it`s all relative I suppose, I`ve seen 11 sec cars with them and yes thats ridiculous, I dunno- 8`s seemed like a good area to introduce the car to one. I always said if I put a chute on it, it would get a wing...I didn`t want to do the chute mount twice. I`ll agree with you stephen, my car @ 158 is still stable, do I NEED the wing?? Probably not but I wanted it.

Nice job. Can you post a close up picture of the struts for the spoiler? If they are made the way I think they are, I think I may have a use for them with one of my new projects.

That's awesome. Ed Quay has been all over these cars since they were new. His headers are pricey, but I bet they're super nice. They're 1 7/8" tubes, aren't they?

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
as soon as your car gets into the 9's you start looking at pulling stuff out of the cars.. like the glass and power seats.. i say
get into the 9's with all the cumfy goody's.. then Just go more power.
with a Bigger eng.. that way you can have all the cumfy goodys when you drive it on the street.. looks like you still have all your Glass on the Car.
thats Fantastic.. the car just plain Looks GOOD! the way it is.

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
As mentioned way above, I wish the side panels extended down enough to cover the factory spoiler hole.
I still use a factory 3 piece spoiler and even at 144 MPH, the car is still stable. The big wing just looks impressive. On cars like ours which are built like a wedge, they don't need the big wing at the slower speeds like older cars such as a 60's Nova which is built like a brick.

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
The wing did help, I can drive the big end without white knuckles, generally at speeds appraoching 150 the car did have a "sas-sha" it`s completely gone with the wing, feels like driving an 11 sec car again..in complete control

Re: pro stock wing / spoiler and chute
Thanks, thanks alot...I gotta start working on this thing soon for spring. I absolutely destroyed the pure little 496 mid summer 09` tight stem to guide clearance hung one of the valves slightly in number 8 at the most inopprotune time (top of 1st gear @ 8000 rpm) should be back better than ever this spring...hunting for the 8.7-8.60 zone with a cam change and a little work to the heads.

What size tubing did you use for the center post and what size did you use for the piece that slides into it?

I know this is an old thread, but just letting everyone know that Ed Quay updated the wing design to cover the bottom hole. They also narrowed the back to follow the body lines.

I don't car how unnecessary it is on my car I want it lol, but that price throws me in check for the firebirds and t/a's it will look a lot better because it wouldn't have to go down ad far to cover the spoiler holes, I just want something to be able kinda hide a kill switch back there
