Custom Motor Bay

I'm looking to Customize my Engine Bay
but not sure where to start " I dont have a welder "
so I think im going with .024 Aluminum coil and bend it myself
I work for a Aluminum company so I can get it a dime a dozen
I want to cover all the wires on the driver side and mybe the steering colum with a removeable pieace. Any thoughts or pics of custom bays will be of great help. This is my first time doing something like this so anyhelp will be Great

I am alittle confused on what exactly you are trying to do. Are you wanting to make engine covers similar to the corvette LS valve cover covers?

Re: Custom Motor Bay

I think he just wants to clean it up and cover everything. There is a guy on here IIRC, but he used a single piece of sheetmetal, cut out some spots and bolted it to the exact top of the engine bay (using the fender bolts to hold it on, allowing only minor holes for curved hoses or raised parts of the bay like the intake and such...but otherwise

Something like this?

Re: Custom Motor Bay

Yea something like H8 did.
I just want to cover anything that I dont need "Steering Coulm" with a removeable pieace. On the driver side where all the wires come thought the firewall I want to cover that. Also where the AC came though the firewall. I have the battery in the trunk so I can cover that also.

Re: Custom Motor Bay

well in that case, my suggestion is to get some cardboard, tape, a marker, and a straightedge and go to town. Mock up what you want to do on your car with the cardboard. Once you have it the way you want it, cut it out in sheet aluminum and install it.

Re: Custom Motor Bay

I agree, use cardboard to do the mockups . Then cut your metal. I've done an engine bay full of welds, and trust me....THIS TAKES A LONG TIME and the hourly rate....WOOOO!!!!!

AFter this you feel like this!

Here is a cardboard piece right before glass mockup.......

Also.... Jeg's sell's a fiberglass cover for a carbed 350 engine

anyway.... if you can get the aluminum like you said...and have a bender...heck yey...I'd make some pieces.. Just remember ....TEMPLATES FIRST!...just my .02 cents.....

Talk with ya later
