Need Help ASAP! PLEASE!

Hi everyone,
I made my own floor pans for my 83 camaro, and overlapped them (new over the old), so today I went to weld in the bottoms to the tops and had trouble, can I just leave them the way they are, or do I have to weld the bottom (or original pieces) to the tops (new pieces), if so, can I just cut the old pieces up to my new welds?

Thanks, DacMan

Re: Need Help ASAP! PLEASE!

you really need to do a lot more reading. there are lots of posts here that deal with what you are doing. they each add to your knowledge base. some are more engineering oriented talking about stress points, some are more hands on.
use the search button and go into the fabrication section.
good luck

Re: Need Help ASAP! PLEASE!

Look Tony,
I appreciate the advise, really I do, but I've been a part of many forums in my life, and I am aware of how they work. All I need to know is what I ask. I know how to install floor pans and how to prevent them from rusting, I just need to know what to do about the lap on the bottom. If you had simply answered my question in the time it took you to write that, then I would have my answer. I didn't find anything on what I'm asking, and I took a good hour looking for it.

Thanks, DacMan

Re: Need Help ASAP! PLEASE!

are you talking about the overlap holding moisture and causing the new floorboards to rust? my intention is to use an underbody coating to prevent that. if it's a tight fit (if you're welding it, I assume it's a pretty close fit) it shouldn't be much of a problem.
