wrong and wrong

I live in Illinois and factory ordered this car in late 84 got it in Apr of 85.....it has had a blower on it since 86

I have had the red hood since 90 or so (if you notice I also have a black factory composite hood with a hole in it in the back ground)....till early this summer the red hood had a straight edge hole in it and I decided to change it up but the whole car pic I posted with the hood leaning against the wall is from before I cut the "broke" look in it.

Not a very good picture in this magazine but if you zoom in you can tell it has the jagged edges.....this is from one of our "Tuesday" road trips lol... (it wont link to the page but there are 2 pics on page 13)

http://www.gomotorhead.com/PDF/082009.pdf

Here is from the 04 Hot Rod Power tour with the straight edges on it......

http://www.hotrod.com/2004powertour/...ery/index.html

And here it is in 89 with even another hood on it (and blower) at the Street Machine Nationals in DuQoin Ill ............. That is Don Emmoins (sp) from Car Craft magazine taking pics of it

I could go on if you would like ......thank you everyone for the compliments.......it has been along while since I have posted on here and within one day of making a new post I remember why I and a bunch of other very knowledgeable and cool people left.

The guy who made that comment has been a member for almost two years more than you, and yet you have more than double his post count. Those here with much higher post counts than he has applaud your work. Take the bad criticism from where it comes. You have an awesome ride there....

That was my way of saying that those who have been here for a very long time, and who post much more frequently, have a better understanding, and more of an appreciation for the work that goes into these cars, than those who have been here for just as long, yet make no contributions....

Wow. So my opinion doesn't count because I don't post as much as you?

.... nope! j/k

No reason to take my words completely out of context. It would be like me being a member of the DSM boards since 2002, having a tad over 300 posts, yet criticizing the work of someone w/more posts, seven years later, by implying a photoshop. The reason why people leave this board has everything to do w/the lack of respect given, not post counts. However, those with fewer post counts in conjunction w/their join date obviously have less love for these cars than those who post here all of the time. You can disagree with me there if you'd like, but that is a given....

Edit: Or better yet, lets say that someone who joined two years earlier than you, with only one post count, criticized your work. Would you value their opinion, or would you value the opinons of those who post here much more regularly....?

Post count means little to me.
I hang out on other 3rdGen boards and I know people with thousands of posts and people with only a few hundred posts.
I take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt and I don't assume that anyone is more or less of an enthusiast by their post count.

We can agree to disagree then. Post counts don't depict the knowledge of the car enthusiast, but they definitely depict the loyalty, as well as contributions made to a particular website. You seem to be going out of your way trying to get your point across here0, when all that was implied by me was to take the responses from where they come. You yourself can take opinions like a grain of salt, and I'm happy that you can, but remember that I initially quoted someone who didn't take the criticism given like a grain of salt, which is why I said what I said. If post counts mean little to you, and you take opinions like a grain of salt, then why would you even bother quoting me then, especially when I wasn't even referring to you? I have to agree with the post above me, let this thread continue in a positive way....

I think your freakin' awesome!! I'd rather see a heavily modded car over a stock/restored car any day.

I've got a little sign in the garage that sez, "Anybody can restore a classic, takes a man to cut one up!!!!!"

I've been a bit under the weather this week, but did manage to get a few things done on the '82... I'll try to get some pics put up this weekend.... Mostly just cleaning up the firewall a bit and some preliminary work on the front suspension mods I'm going to do on the car.... More on that later...Still doing the geometry part of the suspension, if it works out on paper it'll be back to some serious fab work on the front end....Looks good so far, but I'll just leave it at that till things are done in iron and chrome moly instead of just paper and pencil....

I've served my "sentence" on restorations... Did nothing but restorations for a bit over 5 years as a full time job.... It was, ummmm, interesting work.... My experience did indeed show me that mods and resto's do have their place, but the resto's place sure as heck ain't in my place!!!!!! Most of my customers wanted their parts at cost or less and didn't think a small thing like "labor charge" should apply to them!!!! Heck, restorations are ok I guess---but not for me anymore.... I'll stick to my Hot Rods and Race Cars!!!! way more fun and usually a whole lot faster!!!!!

Thats exactly what I was trying to say, although looking back maybe I shouldn't have used the post count as some type of an analogy lol. I remember your car from way back when, when the pro-street cars were the rage of every magazine out there. That hood looks unreal! Now, if you can combine your work w/radical82's, then you would have the 5th gen Camaro that GM should have built lol. You guys really amaze me with your fabrication skills....

Your so wrong, you might as well leave the country. I have seen this car in person a couple times, and I know the guy pretty good. He does some proper powder coating work for me.

Just stop trying to discredit someone's fine piece of work. The guy has put the time and work in and deserves his credit.

I ain't got much to show but here is my work.

The car is a 91 so those in the know will get it

no pics of it installed but I will add those later

Re: lets see some pics of your custom mods and/or fabrication

I got a novi 2000 off someone who had it on a l98.

well I had to mod the heck outa it to work with a lt1 in my 92vert.

Also converted the 383 LT1 to run my msd pro billet distrib. and electric water pump.
So no optispark junk. Running of stock 92 harness and ecm with $59 code for boost.

.... guess I can jump on the bandwagon too.

This is something that I was working on a few years back, I modded the stock throttle body on my old '88 Trans Am 305 w/TBI, then later installed the whole entire setup on a 400-SBC, then a buddy's 454-BBC. Worked like a charm on all three engines after dialing it in, and it provided more than enough air for the big block. Cost me next to nothing to do, and I refused paying so much for the Holley piece....

should I blow up my post count by posting stupid coments? thought this board was better than that, I come here for technical information not to see or post about the
daily "what do you think about this" or to read the same question that been ask on here for the billionth time

you need to take a chill pill, you don't need to get all butt hurt over someones post geez if I'm wrong say so but to make a whole "better than thou post" was overboard

"it's my car and it's not photoshopped" would have sufficed

Its been awhile since I even looked at my TBI setup. I just grabbed it two minutes ago from one of the boxes that I had it lying around in (the box said boosted TBI), and then I immediately remembered that I already started to take it to the very next level, for blow-thru. This is where I last left off with it, intended to be used with a carb hat, Holley intake w/injector bungs, and EBL Flash. I'll get around to finishing it w/turbo, sooner or later lol. If your looking to do what I initially did though for NA applications, it is very easy, and works like a charm...

In reality your post was about a lack of manners and the typical "keyboard talk out your *** call out" about something you obviously had no clue about. Instead of just asking for more pics with the hood cut that way or asking if the one without the new design was an older pic, you had to be rude and post what you did. You also could of checked my other posts and quickly realized this was my car.....in your case I think the best route would of been to not post anything at all.

I feel my post was very appropriate response for being called a liar, you seem to have a hard time wrapping your head around this concept which says a lot about you and judging from the amount of posts trying to point that out to you before you responded, you never will get it.........hope you have a great day

BIG_MODS great job. I had hoped to do all the gusseting to the body like you did but I really wanted to get my autocross car back on the track this season. I just ended up notching the windshield frame and welding the halo directly to it. I also notched the structure between the t-tops and welded it to the main hoop. Maybe this off season I'll take the time to do my pillars up like yours luckily working in a sheetmetal shop i have access to the dies to do it

Re: lets see some pics of your custom mods and/or fabrication

Do the little things count? Sorry - no welder or welding skills here.

Ashtray mod for switches:

Needed switches for several things, but didn't want to hack up the flat console plate or the dash, so I hid them in the ashtray. Piece of plastic cut from Radio Shack project box, 2 part epoxy, drilled holes - viola! Currently using two - one for TC lockup, one for manual fans on.

Center Console Clock in Dash:

Always loved the center console clocks from the 1983 - 1984 models, awesome that there is actually a clock in the world that says "Camaro" on it. But I have a 1992, and wanted to cut the drink holder in the center console - so I mounted in a Radio Shack project box and mounted to dash. Inside, I used green EL Wire, and wrapped around the face where it mounts into the box, so it lights up green and way better than the factory clock lighting (I chose green 'cause the car is teal green).

Armrest:

Wanted to tie in the interior with the exterior (HOK Candy Teal paint) in a few subtle places, and I have the armrests with the 1/4 inch indent - so I searched the globe for ribbon that was a color match for the paint, and glued it into the armrest indent:

Re: lets see some pics of your custom mods and/or fabrication

Sub Logo:

Cut a Chevy logo out of hobby wood, painted black. Drilled holes at intersecting corners, and threaded EL wire though to light up the logo (again green). Connected EL wire to the remote wire running to the amp, so it lights up when stereo is on. Whole thing is raised on 1 inch nylon spacers. The amp is held on the bottom side of the shelf, which simply rests on the shelves of the rear interior. Only the driver side cover has a speaker (10inch sub, 12inch cover) - the pass side is simply a cover mounted to give balance. Nothing is sealed, but the sound is great (Kenwood sub). The fabric is like chameleon paint, changing colors from green to blue to purple depending on the angle, and is simply glued to the underside of the covers with headliner spray adhesive.

That's sweet, I have been trying to figure out were to hide some switches that would still be in arm reach. Plus I don't smoke so the tray is just there for no reason. Bet there is not much room between the lid and switch tho.

Nope - not alot of room - that's why I chose those switches, they are really low profile.
