1988 Pontiac GTA hardtop !!!SOLD!!!

1988 Pontiac Firebird GTA for sale. This is a hardtop GTA and has the 350 tuned port (L98) with a 700R4 trans. Motor and trans have been recently gone through and runs very good. Car has a custom cold air intake, BBK fuel pressure regulator, performance chip, SLP midlength headers and a 3" flowmaster cat-back along with a flowmaster mid pipe. Car has 3.23 posi rear. GTA has had recent paint and looks very good. Has a nice grey interior with B&M Hammer shifter and an Alpine CD player. Car also has sub frame connectors and more suspension upgrades. Will be hard pressed to find a nicer GTA anywhere. I can get more pics of anything that you might want to see on the car. Just ask. Need to sell. Hate to but I am moving out of state and can't take it with me. I have too many cars to try and move them all. Just to be sure I am located in middle TN. Sparta, TN to be exact. $4,200

It does not have the digital dash. I wanted to stay away from the 80s digital stuff because I have seen alot of problems with them.

I can take some pics of the interior and the engine today. I dont have any online.

Feel free to email me or call me with any questions. sweet1963bug at yahoo.com or 931 273 1112

Re: 1988 Pontiac GTA hardtop

What up Bro! the price I offered was a starting price and would definately buy it for 3500...problem is I won't see that money until may! If I'm lucky and the car is still available for purchase, I will arrange to get it shipped to Tucson Az which is where i'm located and let me tell ya it is hard as hell to find a trans am with the 5.7 350 down here which is why I don't mind getting it shipped from out of state! your car is lookin bad *** lol and like you said theres alot of junk bieng sold on the website which I have seen for myself but your pics show that you've taken extreme care of the car which caught my eye! props for that dude! So hopefully ill post back up and let you know soon!

Later!

That is cool. It is a nice car and hate to even sell it. But I got to do what I got to do. It is a very clean car with a powerful TPI setup. It is fun as heck to drive. If I still have the car in May then you are welcome to it. I would like to sell it before then if at all possible!

Re: 1988 Pontiac GTA hardtop

TransAMBill which is a member of this site owned the car before I did and he did most of the work to the car. Here is some of the info he shared about the car before when I bought it.

------

The car has a gold mist sprayed on between the base and clearcoat and when in the sun there's a gold tint to the car that go's great with the wheels and emblems
I spent nearly $1500 in materials painting the car.

The car has the 91-92 GTA,TA,Formula style wrap around wing.
SLP 1 3/4 shortys with Flowmaster catback, single 3 in and out.
FMS 24lb. injectors,BBK AFPR.Added a wonderbar of an 89 Iroc.
Car handles extremely well. Ran a 14.23 on BFG drag radials.

The rear was freshened up,sandblasted, painted and new brake calipers, pads, rotors, hoses installed shortly before I sold it.

I'm shure there's more I'm forgetting.
Was in 4 car shows with it and the GTA won me a trophy everytime.

Re: 1988 Pontiac GTA hardtop

Hi, I just wanted to say that a beautiful car man. I am actually buying a 350 formula firebird in my hometown. The guy has been trying to sell it, but he had no luck. I offered him $2,800 on the car and he turned it down. Now, I called him 6 months later $2,300 he was going to take. Didnt call him for another few months $2,000 dollars. It has headers, simese runners, borg warner rear 9 bolt, kyb shock/struts, full exhaust, paint intact, now dents, all powered, t-tops, aluminum calipers in the rear, and t-tops. No aluminum drive shaft and 167,000 miles on it. Although has a rebuilt trans. The point im trying to make is, your not going to get $4,000 dollars for that car. I am going to say you will get between $3,000 and 3,500. Now those are very serious offers, but if you still think they arent, bro......gas prices are ridiculous and they arent going to change, you didnt express I dont think what people would like to know, how much mileage on the car, body, trans, and engine. Paint I understand, but I had a beautiful IROCZ and sold that. That was loaded dude, I did the rear with all performance mods, fully loaded, borg warner 9 bolt rear, original leather seats, everything worked, 5.7 motor no leaks, yes all of the above you can possibly get out of the L98 Package, and plus new paint. I got $3,300 for the car and the guy flew down here to NJ and drove the car all the way back with no problems on a 108,00 suttin mileage motor. The moral is I HAD TO COME DOWN TO REALITY, CAUSE I WASNT GETTING NO MORE THEN THAT, but could I of gotten 3,500, yes. So, if you really want to sell the car man. You gotta make some hard choices and these guys who know about these cars, are not going to be your every day high school teen. These guys im sure would be willing to give you at least about what I said. If you have sold it already then, there was no point in telling you this whole story. Take a look at my babies.

Re: 1988 Pontiac GTA hardtop

Trust me man. I understand how the game works. But dont think you can offer some ridiculious low amount and actually think someone will take it. I can keep the car I am not starving. And actually these cars get pretty good mileage for what they are. Gets better than my tahoe haha If you can find a rust free 350 TPI with new paint for that cheap then all means get it. But I am not giving my stuff away. There are less and less NICE real GTAs out there.

If you want to know the mileage on the car it is 137,000 or so. The engine and trans is supposed to have around 40,000 or so.

So bro. If you want to give your stuff away then do it. But $4k is a good price I think I have also entertained offers of $3500.

I understand where you are coming from. If I was hurtin I could let it go insane cheap but I aint...So I wont.

I have been driving the GTA to work when it is nice out. I would hate to sell this car but I really need to. I cant move 5-6 cars 300 miles the way gas is getting these days. I just want someone to get it that enjoys these cars. That is why I put it on here..

thanks

Re: 1988 Pontiac GTA hardtop

Saw this one and had to chime in....... even if it is a couple of months later...
The value of a car depends on the area that your selling it in.
If you came up here to Canada, in the market that I'm in you would get around $10 grand for it. Only have about 10 GTA's in the city of about 700,000 people and something like this is highly disireable.
I've been to tons of car shows and rarely ever see a GTA. Let alone one in great shape.
I'm keepin mine..........
