I am selling my 1991 Pontiac Trans Am GTA Red Hardtop. It has 109,xxx on the clock, runs and looks excellent. Here is a summary:
Engine
Bone stock 5.7 liter TPI. It looks like it may have an msd distributor cap but that is it. It has a brand new battery, alternator, water pump, serpentine belt and AC Delco plugs. The engine starts right up every time and runs very strong. It has a custom SLP Loudmouth 2 exhaust. It’s a single in/out and tucked up in the body so you can’t see it at all. The car sounds a bit louder then stock at idle and pretty laid back with normal driving. When you open it up a bit the exhaust sounds really nice.
Transmission & Brakes
I had the power purge plus from Aamco done where they drop the pan, change the filter and change all the fluid. It shifts nice and firm, one of the better 700r4’s that I have driven. It has a 3.23 posi, disc rear. I had Aamco change the rear gear oil and put new bolts all around the cover. They also put in new axle seals on both sides since they were leaking a bit. Aamco rebuilt the rear calipers and put some new brakes pads in there. I replaced the front rotors, wheel bearings and pads. This car stops really well.
Suspension, Wheels & Tires
New KYB GR-2 shocks and struts all around and replaced but front strut mounts with the KYB stock replacements. I then had the car aligned. It also has an SLP take off pan hard rod (with new bolts), Spohn poly end links and bushings for the front and rear sway bars and, a Mac STB.
All GTA wheels are in good shape with no curb rash. Nice set of Firestone Firehawk tires all around. Between the new suspension and these great tires the car rides very smooth and handles like it is on rails. The GTA wheels have their center caps and I bought the dust shields to keep them clean.
Interior
The interior of this car is really nice. The GTA seats are in very good shape with no rips, headliner is perfect, visor are very nice and have mirrors! The dash pad is perfect and the cup holders on both doors are in great shape. Carpet is good in the front and rear and the trunk sunshade is there but it is a little faded. All gauges, buttons and general functions all work like they should and the car has the original factory cd player and mats. In addition, I will include a brand new set of GTA floor mats that is shown in the pictures. The AC does work and blows cool.
Body
Fresh paint! Overall the body is in great shape, all GFX’s are there and are in good shape, the aero wing is in good shape, the doors do not sag at all, good glass all around, hatch pull down works perfect, hatch struts and hood struts are good and brand new emblems (the sail panel birds are not on the car but I will include). The rare 91/92 taillights are in good condition with no cracks or anything. The front fog and parking lights were replaced and the headlights work perfect. With the fresh paint and new emblems this car really turns heads, you would not be dissapointed!
The car passed NJ inspection in Oct so the sticker is good for just under 2 years.
Cons: The airbag light comes on from time to time and it is probably a good idea to replace the weather stripping around the doors.
I have done my best to describe my gem of a GTA. I will include the carfax report from when I got the car, sail panel birds, clear title and the original owners manual. This car is sold as is with no warantee.
Several people have asked about possible trades for the car. I will consider trades if you have one of the following (in good working order): 96 or up V6 F-Body (Camaro or Firebird) with less than 80,000 miles and, 97 or up S10, Ranger, Mazda B-Series P/U, Tacoma, Frontier or Dakota with less than 80,000 miles. These are the only vehicles I will consider!
